"You fucking shut me down for hours," my wolf complained while I quickly took a shower and got ready to leave the room.

"Well, it's not like I stayed awake either. I passed out too," I grunted back at him.

"What are we gonna do now?" my wolf asked.

"The way Kaylee reacted made me realize that whatever you said was the truth," I said, buttoning up my shirt.

"Really? So, what are we gonna do now?" he asked again.

I took a deep breath and nodded, having already made my decision about what I was going to do.

"Even if I don't remember anything, I made promises to that woman. I promised her I would protect her. She's suffered enough. And at one point, I loved her. So I'm gonna protect her even now," I said determinedly, referring to Kaylee.

"Do you think you'll be able to go against Madeline?"

Axe’s concerns were valid. If Madeline had kept someone in the basement, she would try to keep her there.

But I wouldn't let that happen. Not after finding out the truth.

"Well, Madeline will have to listen to me, okay?" I snapped at him. "She can't do whatever she wants. I'm the president here. I make the rules. And I will not let someone abuse someone else just because of their jealousy."

As soon as I said that, even my wolf went silent. He realized he shouldn't cross me.

I walked out, and there she was, sitting in the living room.

The minute I mentioned Kaylee, she looked shocked.

"She thought I would never find out," I told my wolf, grunting as Madeline sucked in a sharp breath.

"Well, that's because her husband mistreated me. That's why I don't want her out."

That was the excuse she gave, which was pretty lame, to be honest. Neither my wolf nor I was convinced.

"Well, that doesn't give you the right to put her in restraints. So, with that being said, you will have to set her free," I demanded, watching tears start to gather in Madeline's eyes.

"So that you can continue your affair?"

The minute Madeline said it, my wolf stirred inside me.

"What did she just say?" my wolf questioned, sounding shocked.

"What? Isn't that what you told me? Why are you acting so shocked when she's confirming it?" I asked my wolf, trying to gather more information, but he went silent.
