After I Stopped Loving Him (Isabella and Ethan) novel Chapter 358

Ethan’s expression turned stormy and his voice dropped, colder than before. “Sophia really needs to find something to do.”

“Is Isabella feeling any better?”

Susan answered, “The doctor stopped by and gave her some medicine. He said her throat is inflamed and if she doesn’t take it, she’ll end up with a fever. She’s doing better now that she’s had the medicine. At least the headache is gone. Ms. Clark didn’t stay long, maybe ten minutes, then she left.”

Ethan sounded impatient. “Got it. I’ll go see her as soon as I’m done here.”

Mia Clark had moved her job back to the country, and Jennifer was practically obsessed with her. Ethan wasn’t clueless. He knew exactly what his mom was up to. He was married, but his mom just couldn’t help stirring things up. Honestly, she had way too much time on her hands.

After hanging up, Ethan rushed through his most important files, handed the rest to Jeremy, who’d just come back from a business trip, and hurried out to find Isabella.

Isabella was at the bookstore with Laura. The two of them checked out the renovations and talked to the workers. The foreman said they’d be finished in a couple of days. After some cleaning, they could finally bring in the bookshelves, coffee machine, and everything else.

Isabella’s phone buzzed. Ethan’s name flashed on the screen. She frowned, muttered something under her breath, but Laura didn’t hear.

“I’ll take this outside.”

Laura waved her off with a smile.

Isabella stepped out, phone pressed to her ear.

“What is it?” Her voice was flat and distant.

“I took the medicine. The headache’s gone. I just came to check out the shop.”

“Oh… is the renovation almost finished?”

“Yeah, they’ll be done in a couple of days. Laura and I are about to go look at furniture and equipment.”

Tomorrow, her second short drama would be released, which meant she’d be up all night keeping an eye on the numbers. Then, a new shoot would start and she’d have to be on set. Her schedule was insane. That’s why she had to buy all the furniture and equipment today. Once the shop was clean, they could move everything in, set it up, and pick a good day to open. They still needed to hire two staff members.

Laura almost never went on set, so she offered to manage the shop. She said she could write her novels there just as easily. They split the responsibilities: one of them ran the shoots, the other took care of the bookstore and café. Profits split right down the middle.

“I’ll be there in five minutes. I’ll go with you to pick out the furniture.”
