After I Stopped Loving Him novel Chapter 425

Jackson sat back, frowning. Was Isabella asking about the wedding gifts now because his wife had brought up divorce? The timing made sense. Still, Natalie had gone overboard. With all those wedding gifts, she could have let Isabella take at least half instead of keeping everything for herself.

“Alright, I’m heading home now,” Jackson said. He didn't argue. It was time to deal with it.

After the call, Ethan reached out to Adelina. He asked her to bring Natalie's parents to the Lane family house too. Then he called Harold and Jesse, the friends who had helped him pick out the wedding gifts. A lot of the presents had been their ideas. If he was going to settle this today, everyone needed to be there.

Once everything was in motion, Ethan finally called Isabella. Seeing his name on the screen made her heart skip. He’d told her to wait three days for an answer. Two days had dragged by. Ethan hadn’t come home, and Isabella hadn’t gone back to their place either. She was holed up in her own little villa, anxious and distracted, afraid he’d change his mind and refuse the divorce after all. Every time her phone rang, her nerves spiked, half-expecting the worst.

Now, as his call finally came in, her chest tightened. She was scared to hear him say the words she dreaded most.

“Isabella, do you have a minute?” Ethan’s voice sounded tired, like he hadn’t slept in days.

“I’m on set right now with the crew. It’s pretty busy, but if it’s about us, I can make time.”

“Oh.” He went quiet. The silence stretched. Isabella thought maybe he’d already hung up. She pulled the phone away to check, saw the call was still on, and pressed it back to her ear. “Ethan, what did you want to say?”
