"But if you really help me get the wedding gifts back, Natalie will..." Isabella's voice trailed off, worry clouding her words.

Ethan cut her off. "Isabella, I've already made up my mind."

She knew what that meant. To her, Ethan choosing to help her get the wedding gifts back also meant he wasn't ready to go through with the divorce. Honestly, Ethan wasn't so sure about that himself anymore. The certainty he once had about staying married had faded. For now, he'd focus on getting the gifts back. The divorce could wait until he figured out what he really wanted.

Isabella stayed quiet. After a moment, Ethan spoke again.

"I'll really think about the divorce, too," he said, his voice softer.

Isabella finally let out a breath she didn't know she was holding. Her tone lifted, lighter now. "You don't have to come pick me up, Ethan. I can drive myself."

"I'll come get you," he replied.

She didn't argue this time. "Alright, I'll send you my location."

As soon as they hung up, Isabella sent him her location. Ethan read it, took a couple of steadying breaths, then got up and headed out of his office.

Not long after Jackson and Jordan arrived, Natalie's parents showed up too. When the butler announced their arrival, Natalie froze for a second before quickly heading out to greet them, Jordan close behind.

"Jordan, why are my parents here all of a sudden? Did Ethan call them too? Is he really going to stand up for Isabella like this?"

After she found out Ethan had called Jackson back, Natalie had gone pale. She'd always been so bold because she counted on Ethan's feelings for her. No matter what trouble she got into, Ethan always fixed things for her. He forgave her, right or wrong, and never called her out. He never took anyone else's side against her.

Had she finally pushed him too far? Was Ethan really choosing Isabella this time? Was he so afraid of losing Isabella that he was willing to take her side, even though Natalie had made it clear she wouldn't return a single thing?
