After I Stopped Loving Him novel Chapter 474

“Hey, Douglas.”

Douglas nodded. “Linda’s been trying to set you up with my brothers. Please don’t take it too seriously. She means well, but you don’t have to pay any attention to it.”

Laura couldn’t help but feel a little awkward. She and Isabella had both been caught off guard by Linda’s matchmaking speech that day, but honestly, they hadn’t thought much about it since. She never expected Douglas to come all the way here just for this.

Seeing the look on Laura’s face, Douglas went on, “You might think I didn’t need to come by in person, but you don’t really know Linda. Once she gets an idea in her head, she’ll do anything to make it happen. She’s relentless when it comes to matchmaking.”

He glanced at Isabella’s hospital room. “I figured I could use Isabella’s hospitalization as an excuse to visit without attracting too much attention. If I came by under normal circumstances, it’d just be weird.”

Laura gave a small, embarrassed laugh. “Linda just worries about you guys. She wants the best for you.”

Fifteen brothers, all single. If Laura were in Linda’s shoes, she’d probably be the same way.

Douglas shook his head, but there was no trace of blame. “Laura, I already like someone. If Linda brings this up again, just let her know.”

Laura nodded right away. She couldn’t help but ask, “If you already like someone, why not tell Linda? If she knew, she wouldn’t be so stressed about your love life, and she wouldn’t keep bringing it up to us.”

Douglas didn’t say anything.

Laura realized he wasn’t about to spill any details. She decided it was better not to push.

He set down a fruit basket. “This is for Mrs. Adams. Tell her to rest and get better. Linda will come by after work. Sorry for dropping in like this. I have some things to take care of, so I’ll get going.”

He motioned for his bodyguards to take the fruit basket to the room, then he left just as quickly as he’d arrived. The whole encounter had barely lasted three minutes.
