Jesse glanced over his shoulder and noticed Laura still hadn't gone to eat, so he nudged her again.
"Oh, right, I'm going now."
Laura headed into the kitchen. There was a plate of food waiting for her, still warm from the pot. She carried it to the dining table, sat down, and took a bite, savoring what Jesse had made.
Back when he first started cooking, Jesse wasn't great, but now his food just kept getting better. He didn't cook at her place all that often, so Laura suspected he might be practicing on his own at home. Probably for her.
He did so many things for her, always quietly, never asking for attention. Half the time, she didn't even realize what he'd done unless someone else told her, like when Linda and Barbara mentioned he’d helped her family’s business grow by sending new clients their way.
Laura’s phone started ringing. She glanced at the screen. It was her mom.
She picked up.
"Laura, did you eat yet?" Evelyn asked. "I wanted to talk to you about something."
"Go ahead, Mom. What is it?" Laura said, taking another bite. "I'm eating now."
Evelyn sighed. "No matter how busy you get with work, you still have to eat on time. You can’t keep waiting until now. Skipping meals is bad for your stomach."
"I know, Mom. It only happens sometimes. What did you want to say?"
Her mom chuckled. "Your uncle wants to introduce you to someone. He thinks you should come home and meet him. He says the guy’s really great, has a good job, and his family’s simple, just three people. He’s an only child, so you wouldn't have to worry about any complicated family drama. His parents are both really kind, too."
Laura didn’t even have to think about it. "Mom, I’m not doing any blind dates. Tell Uncle thanks, but he doesn’t need to set me up."

The readers' comments on the novel: After I Stopped Loving Him (Isabella and Ethan)
Frankly, the story initially was going quite good and the pacing was just right. unfortunately after Ethan got the dream of his past life, the story has been going in circles. Ethan's spouting the same nonsense every time he sees Isabella, they both have same conversations over and over. The authors monologue too has been the same for almost 400 chapters. Irrespective of which character the writing the just a repetition of what someone had gone through in the past and what made a certain character feel the emotions. York got introduced in 800 chapters yet nothing significant happened till date. Isabella is soft with Harold and kind of disgusted with Ethan, yet it is not entirely clear with whom she might end up. If she stays single i am fine with it but the story is clearly about Isabella and Ethan so almost 1000 chapters without seeing any progress in their relationship is frustrating. Except for being blindly in love and few aggressive instances with Isabella, Ethan actually isnt a bad person so i am fine if he can win her back. Even though Harold is coming off as a good second lead, i am somehow unable to warm upto him. Even the bad people in the story are not really facing any real consequences. I hate Jackson for his hypocrisy. I hate Jordan and Natalie for their self-righteouness and selfishness. I also hate Deborah, except when she is handing it out to Natalie. I am almost on the verge of dropping this story....
Why are they acting like kids 🤣😭...
Ethan is actually not that bad if we take out his blind love for Natalie...
