After I Stopped Loving Him (Isabella and Ethan) novel Chapter 790

“Alright.”

Harold stood up from his seat.

But Ethan was quicker.

“Isabella, let me go with you.”

He reached for Isabella’s hand, standing up to block Harold’s path and keep him from leading her away. Ethan’s eyes shot Harold a warning.

Isabella pulled her hand free, her movement sharp.

“Ethan, please, have some self-respect.”

She looked at him, her voice steady. “We’re divorced. Mr. Adams, stop touching me.”

She gave him a gentle push, stepping around him. Harold moved instantly, placing himself at her side as they walked out of the hotel together.

“Isabella...”

Ethan took a step to follow, but Natalie’s cool voice interrupted him.

“Ethan, what’s the point? She clearly doesn’t want to talk to you. Why keep pushing when she’s made it obvious she wants nothing to do with you?”

“Isabella was right. You’re divorced. It’s time to keep your distance.”

“Really, Ethan, what’s so special about Isabella? You two are already over. If you wanted to get married again, there are so many girls who would line up for you. Any of them would be a better choice than her.”

Natalie reached out, pulling Ethan back into his chair.

“When you two went to the civil office for the divorce, I rushed over to try to stop you, but you wouldn’t listen. We’ve been friends for decades. I’d never do anything to hurt you. Everything I did was for your own good, but you just wouldn’t hear me out. Now you regret it, but winning Isabella back isn’t going to be easy. She has plenty of better options now. I heard Linda say that if Isabella wanted, she could pick any of her cousins.”

But anything more than that wasn’t possible anymore.

Six months ago, he would have thought differently. But so much had changed since then. His feelings for Natalie weren’t what they used to be.

Ethan left her behind and walked away.

Natalie was so angry she wanted to flip the table. But at a banquet like this, all that would do was draw attention and embarrass herself.

Ethan walked out of the hotel and spotted Harold and Isabella talking just outside. He couldn’t hear what they were saying, but he noticed a small smile on Isabella’s face.

Harold had his back to him.

Even from this distance, Ethan could tell Harold was trying to make her laugh.

Suddenly, Ethan’s legs felt unbearably heavy, as if they were filled with lead, making it nearly impossible to take another step forward.
