The crazier she fought, the more these guys wanted to break her.

Most of the room was interested, but nobody moved. This woman had been cornered by someone from the Cole family, and nobody was stupid enough to jump in.
“She’s dead meat. She won’t last three days. Brock’s known for being a sadistic freak.”
“What a waste. You don’t see a face like that every day.”
“Just bad luck, running into Brock.”
Everyone knew the Cole family had a lot of sons, but most of them had killed each other off. Brock Cole was one of the few left. He claimed to have bipolar disorder and stayed out of the inheritance war to focus. on partying, which was probably why he was still alive.
But he was a scumbag. He’d killed people during his games and the family just covered it up.
Next to Norman, he was the only one with any real pull. People even whispered that if Norman bit it, Brock would take over. Nobody wanted to mess with him.
They all figured she was as good as dead.
Brock looked her up and down, already planning how to ruin her. He snapped his fingers. “Take her.”
Just as the goons moved to grab Tammy, someone else stepped in front of her.
Even through the mask, his look was pure ice.
“What do you think you’re doing?”
Brock recognized him immediately. He hated his brother, but he kept it civil. “Oh, hey. Is the noise bothering you? I’ll handle this. I won’t let this woman get in your way…”
“Who gave you permission to touch her?”
The second he said it, Brock got the message.
This was Norman’s girl.
He was pissed, but he didn’t dare push back. “My bad. I didn’t know she was yours.”
“Get out.”
Brock looked like he’d swallowed a brick, but he turned and left.
The whole brotherly standoff was over in two minutes, with Brock tucking his tail and running.
The crowd was disappointed. Brock really was a loser. He’d folded instantly. Some of the smaller families who had been thinking about backing him while Norman was gone were already regretting it.

Tammy stared at the back of the man in front of her. Her vision finally focused on a silhouette she knew by heart.
“Bovine…” she whispered.
My face goes stiff but the mask hides it.
“Bovine!” Tammy screamed. She lunged forward and grabbed him from behind.
“I found you! Bovine!”
The name Bovine stopped everyone cold before they burst out laughing.
“Is she high? What the hell did she call him? Bovine? That’s the most pathetic name I’ve ever heard!”
“She’s clearly out of her mind. Probably on something. Only the party girls come here anyway.”
“She’s got balls, though. Calling him Bovine to his face.”
They all treated it like a massive joke.
Nobody believed he actually was her Bovine.
Tammy didn’t care what they said. She clung to him. “I saw you come in. I’ve been looking everywhere for you. Why are you here?”
She kept talking, but the man didn’t say a word.
The silence started to scare her.
“Bovine?”

The body she was holding went board.
Then, the hands that used to be so gentle pushed her away so hard it was almost cruel.
He turned around. The eyes behind the black mask were freezing.
“Miss, you have the wrong person,” he said. His voice was deep and sounded like a total stranger. “Have some self–respect.”
“No way!”
Tammy reached for his mask, but he grabbed her wrist.
