Even in Darkness, Shc Chose to Rise

Chapter 621 Trapped

“We might be waiting a very long time.”

“What do you mean?”

“This zoo is poorly managed and has very few visitors. This mini tram only runs twice a day, and we happen to be on the second run. There won’t be another vehicle coming behind us.”

Tammy choked up. “What a wonderful place you picked!”

Lucas rubbed his nose. “I’m sorry. I didn’t do it on purpose.”

He hadn’t expected that the wonderful dating spot he had carefully selected would turn into such a disaster.

“Those lions aren’t full at all.”

She pointed toward the lions’ bellies.

They were completely flat.

“Not only are they hungry, but they’re also picky eaters. They only ate the organs.”

Her simple words sent a sudden chill straight down Lucas’s spine.

Tammy reached into his backpack, pulled out another packet of jerky, tore it open, and took a bite. “You’re right. They probably haven’t been fed in a long time. They’re starting to revolt.”

in/their

Beasts were beasts, after all. The instincts carried in/their blood couldn’t be altered, and they would never truly be tamed by humans.

“Want some?”

She generously tore the jerky packet in half and offered it to him.

Lucas shook his head, his face turning a shade paler. “No, thank you. I won’t eat. You go

ahead”

T

Not everyone had the stomach to eat right in front of a mangled corpse, especially meat.

The scene from earlier had caused many of the passengers to vomit directly on the floor Tammy, however, acted completely unbothered, continuing to chew on her dried meat

She finished it in a few quick bites.

Brushing her hands off, she asked. “Do you know how to fix the mini trami

Lucas responded instinctively, “If it’s just a regular vehicle.

“We can’t afford to wait until nightfall.

Wait what are your planning to do?

Chapter 621-Trapped

“What do you mean?”

“Once night falls, it workjust be them out there.”

The wilderness at night was incredibly terrifying.

Countless lethal animals could emerge at any given moment.

The best option was to leave as early as possible.

She had been studying the area closely for a while, locating the exact spot where the firearm had drop “I’ll

go down with you. I’ll hold them off while you do the repairs. We work together.”

Lucas refused without a second thought. “No! It’s too dangerous! That’s a whole pride of lions!”

“Eight lions.”

“No! Don’t do anything reckless!”

Lucas gripped her arm tightly, terrified that if he looked away for even a second, she would pull off another earth-shattering stunt.

He genuinely regretted this.

He never should have come to a zoo in the first place!

Then none of this would have happened!

“Let go.”

“Tammy!”

“I’m not joking with you. I can smell them.”

“Them?”

“Wolves, hyenas, leopards, bears… They are all lurking in the shadows, watching us. We are their prey.

Lucas’s breathing grew shallow and rapid.

“You’re right. This zoo is severely short on funds, so they’ve starved them for a long time. If I’m not mistaken, this might be entirely intentional.”

Lucas quickly sensed that something was amiss. “How could it be intentional? They can’t possibly keep operating if people die here…”

He broke off and sentence

A sudden realization struck hind

Lucas instantly connected the crucial pieces of the puzzle.

He looked up at the passengers inside the mini tran, who hailed from various nations.

Chapter 621 Trapped

People who could afford to travel here were by no means short on cash.

Consequently, nobody had thought twice about the one-hundred-dolar insurance policy offered bef entering the park; almost everyone had purchased it.

He and Tammy had bought it too.

If an accident occurred inside, the insurance company would pay out a massive sum of money.

The zoo, functioning as a victim in the incident, could also claim compensation.

The payout would be enormous.

The more he thought about it, the colder his heart became.

While the prominent Dr. Lucas was still agonizing over the tumor in his brain, he had never imagined th he might not die on an operating table, but rather in the jaws of wild beasts in the middle of nowhere.

“Tatjana told me to always assume the worst malicious intent when dealing with these people. They are a pack of demons disguised in human skin.”

Tammy had grown a great deal, no longer the naive, innocent girl who knew nothing of the world.

She was developing rapidly.

She had even anticipated details that Lucas had completely overlooked.

Lucas took a deep breath. “So, no one is coming to rescue us.”

Tammy nodded. “Right. So we have to save ourselves. Can I trust you?”

He nodded.

“Let’s go.”

Tammy had absolutely no intention of letting herself be calculated as reserve rations; she wanted to make it back alive.
