Against Cruelty, She Grew Strong (by Anastasia Glover) novel Chapter 661

Chapter 661 Who Will He Save

Sherry knew she shouldn’t be playing along. But the urge to find out what Liam was really thinking was just too strong.

Now that she’d come this far, there was no going back.

“I’m in.”

Tatiana smiled and nodded, “Good.”

If Sherry had backed out now, Tatiana would’ve been disappointed.

But she didn’t. So the show went on.

When Liam galloped back, he heard shouting.

His heart lurched. He sped up.

The moment he arrived, he saw the two women standing by the lake—bodies colliding.

Then, almost in unison, they both lurched!

“Ahhh—”

“Help!”

Two screams, followed by the unmistakable splash of bodies hitting the water.

The instant Tatiana went under, she held her breath. The freezing lake soaked through her riding clothes—but she didn’t fight it. She let herself sink, her hair fanning out like seaweed.

Through the churning water, she saw the figure rushing toward the shore.

Liam sprinted to the edge. No hesitation. His sharp gaze swept across the water and instantly locked onto Tatiana’s sinking form.

“Tatiana!”

The name burst out of him—panic raw in his voice. He didn’t even stop to take off his jacket. He dove straight in, powerful strokes cutting through the water toward her.

Meanwhile, Sherry was thrashing on the other side, making as much noise as she could, coughing and crying out.

Liam wrapped an arm around Tatiana’s waist, hauled her up, carefully carried her to the shore, and laid her down.

He grabbed a blanket and wrapped it around her, his fingers shaking a little as he pushed the wet hair from her face. His voice was low, urgent, “Tatiana? You alright? Did you swallow water?”

Chapter 661 Who Will He Save

Finished

She leaned into him, coughed twice, then looked up with reddened eyes—just the right amount of fear, just the right hint of dependence. She shook her head and said quickly,

“Save her!”

Liam remembered Sherry was pregnant. He spun around and ran back, “Wait for me!”

After a few moments, Sherry was pulled out too—soaking wet, makeup ruined, her hair a flat, sodden mess.

She was shivering violently, her face colder than the lake water.

From an angle no one could see, Tatiana’s gaze drifted to the disheveled, frozen Sherry behind them.

No triumphant smile.

But that calm look—laced with condescending pity and the quiet certainty of someone who had already won—cut deeper than any taunt.
