Chapter 690 Lucas’s Final Confession Letter

It was for her.

She sat on the bed and carefully opened it.

Dear Tammy,

[By the time you read this, I can hide my weakness and regrets no longer. Please forgive me for leaving you with this weight. This is the only and final selfish act of my life.

I’ve been in regret, Tammy. Regret for my foolish, oblivious self.

The letter was long.

Every word was written carefully.

The cramped letters traced Lucas’s life.

He poured his secrets-all the things he’d never said aloud. Like he knew he’d never get another

chance.

She read carefully.

The room

was quiet. Sunlight streamed in, catching her profile-soft but cold.

The owner of this room left only a letter.

And that letter read like a farewell, one he must have written knowing he’d die sooner or later.

Norman saw she hadn’t come out. Worried, he went to her door. He was about to knock-saw it was opep Tammy sat on the bed, reading.

He knew it was Lucas’s letter.

He didn’t interrupt. No jealousy.

He leaned against the doorframe and watched.

He wasn’t heartless enough to barge in now.

He didn’t like Lucas-no, he resented him. Hated him. Had even thought of killing him.

But he never imagined Lucas would die for Tammy.

That hatred faded with his fall.

He took out a cigarette. Didn’t light it. Just chewed on it, trying to calm the rage.

A thought crept in-

Finished

He’d never beat a dead man.

Lucas had given Tammy something no one else could.

“What are you doing here?”

Tammy’s voice pulled him back.

He straightened, “Nothing. You find what you were looking for?”

“Yeah. This,”

“Okay.”

He saw her holding an outfit. Looked at her face.

Her eyes were red. She’d been crying.

He pretended not to notice, “Let’s go.”

“Mm.”

They walked out.

In the living room, Norman couldn’t help asking, “Did you two… live here together?”

“Yeah.”

Did they sleep together?

He almost asked. But didn’t.

Why humiliate himself?

Tammy seemed not to notice his hesitation. She walked ahead with the clothes.

When the door closed, the room fell silent.

Tammy personally placed Lucas’s clothes inside the coffin as a final farewell.

She carefully folded them before placing them beside him.

Looking at his clothes, she fell into deep thought.

The letter came to mind.

Aside from rambling, it said one thing.

[Tammy, let’s break up. Thank you for being with me in my final days–for tolerating my selfishness. Em giving you back your freedom.

May you live peacefully and happily.l

They were done.

Even if it was fake.

But when it ended, something heavy stayed in her chest.

She laughed softly, “This is the first time I’ve been dumped.”

But there was no humor in her eyes. Only sadness.

She didn’t close the coffin.

On their island, there was a special funeral custom.

The dead couldn’t be buried for three days-so their spirits could come home.

She followed that. She kept Lucas’s coffin at the mourning hall.

Norman found Lucas’s background. He wanted to help his family.

But after reading his story, even Norman-who lived on the edge-was silent.

Lucas hadn’t had it any better.

He had no family to even attend a funeral. =| =

Let alone make up for what he had done.

So Norman dropped it.

Manna and Knox came too.
