“I’m sorry, he’s your fucking what?” The words tumble from my mouth before l even have a chance to think about it. I know that prick said that he was her mate, and yes it pissed me off to no end, but I knew that it was all bullshit because she’s my mate so ! held the anger in but hearing her say it hits differently and I’m instantly ready to tear the room apart.

I feel her tense up next to me and swiftly realise that I need to rein in my anger because I’m scaring her, and that is the last thing that I should do, that I want to do. I will never take it out on you in any way.” I still don’t know what she’s been through yet, but either way, I know that it hasn’t been good, but I’ll make dam sure that she knows that her future will be different, that it will be good. That she will be safe and loved and protected beyond belief.

She nods her head and gives me a little smile as I feel her body calm down and I thank the moon goddess for it. It would destroy me to think that my mate is scared of me even before she knows that she is my mate.

“Aria, sweetheart. if I’m right you’re 17, is that correct?” Nick asks her and I swear it takes all I have to hold back a growl when he calls her sweetheart. Of course, I know that Nick isn’t a threat but that doesn’t stop Cain or me from feeling possessive at fuck. I don’t imagine I would be like it in a normal situation as I often refer to my brother’s mates with caring names but with all that’s going on right now I just can’t handle it.

“I am.” She answers giving my brother her full attention. “So can l ask how you know that Talon is your mate? You won’t be able to scent or feel your mate until you are 18 and werewolf law states that no werewolf can tell an underage mate about them. They have to waitand let them find out for themselves.”

Aria ducks her head so that she’s looking at the floor but doesn’t say a word. “Aria, please look at me.” Nick gently commands after a minute or two of silence. Her head instantly rises giving him her full attention and it doesn’t sit right with me. The way she does it makes me think of a well-trained dog. What the fuck has she been going through? “Aria, you are safe to speak in here. It doesn’t matter what you tell us, no harm or judgment will come to you.” Nick says once again using a gentle tone that l’ve very rarely heard from him before.

My mate remains quiet for a moment but then she shocks me when she turns her attention to me seeming to silently seek something from me, reassurance maybe. I give her an encouraging nod and want to bang my chest like a wild beast when thankfully she seems satisfied with that as she turns her attention back to Nick. “I’m telling you, Robbie. She may be underage but she can feel a connection between us.” Cain churps sounding way too pleased with himself although, I have to admit that the thought of her feeling something between us already even if she doesn’t understand it makes me feel 10 feet tall.

“Aria, why don’t you come to take a seat?” Shane asks as he moves out of the chair that he’s been sitting in. She looks up at me and I can see her reluctance but then Will being Will realises what going on and gets up from his chair that is next to Shanes. “Shall, we go take a seat?

Those two have been hogging them for way too long.” I smirk trying to lighten the mood a little for her and thankfully it works

Her little smile as she nods is cute as fuck making my heart beat faster while also feeling like it tears apart. How long am I going to have to wait for her? We head over to the chairs and once she sits down and is comfy she turns her attention back to Nick showing him her respect.

“So, Aria. Are you ready to talk now?”

“They say that… they say that he is a very rich man and that he helps to fund a lot of places like the one that I was in and in return, he’s allowed to claim any she-wolf that he wants to. As many as he wants to. When any new She-wolves arrive at the camps he visits and picksany he wants before anyone else in the pack even gets to see them. “Jesus fuck!” Nick growls while every single guy in the room grunts their agreeance. “You have got to be fucking kidding me!” I growl needing to let a little of my anger out in any way that I can.

Nick runs a hand through his hair as he takes a deep breath while I quickly follow suit. “Ok, so what happened when you met him?” He asks my mate as I zone back in on her and wait for what she is about to say next.

“When I arrived at the pack he was already there. We were led into a large room and he was sitting there waiting for us.”
