Alpha's Regret After the Divorce by Christina novel Chapter 116

Kira’s POV:

I moved swiftly to the side, a bead of sweat tracing a cold line down my spine as Andy launched himself toward me. His enormous wolf form blurred into a rush of gray fur and fierce determination. My heart hammered loudly in my chest, yet I forced my breathing to stay even, my hands steady as they gripped the wooden practice daggers with the precision honed through countless drills. The training arena surrounded us with reinforced walls, built tough to endure even the fiercest werewolf assaults.

Andy’s claws sliced through the air where I had just been standing moments before. I pivoted sharply on my heel, expertly using his forward momentum against him.

“You still rely too much on your right side,” I called out, my voice calm despite the rush of adrenaline, as I rolled away from another swift attack. In one seamless motion, I spun around and slashed toward the exposed left flank of his massive form.

The wooden blade barely brushed his fur, nearly grazing skin beneath. Andy’s eyes widened, surprise flickering across his face—he hadn’t expected me to spot the opening so quickly. Around the training floor, others paused their own exercises to watch our duel unfold—a mix of humans and werewolves, all captivated by the display.

Andy recovered with remarkable speed and launched a flurry of lightning-fast swipes. Each strike forced me to react instantly, my muscles burning with the effort. Three years of relentless training had pushed my human body to its absolute limits. I wasn’t faster than a werewolf—no human could be—but I had learned to predict, to anticipate his moves.

When Andy hurled himself at me with his full weight, I held my ground until the last possible moment before dropping to the floor and rolling underneath him. His momentum carried him forward, and I sprang up behind him, quickly reaching into my belt pouch and tossing a handful of special powder straight into his eyes.

A startled yelp escaped Andy as he blinked, temporarily blinded. I didn’t hesitate for a second. I leapt onto his back, my thighs locking tightly around his furry torso as I pressed one wooden dagger against the vulnerable spot on his neck.

“Death,” I whispered, signaling the end of our match.

Beneath me, Andy shifted back into his human form, his bare skin gleaming with sweat as I slid off him. He grabbed a towel from nearby and wrapped it around his waist, flashing a grin despite the sting of defeat.

“Three years ago, who would have thought a human could take down a werewolf in under five minutes?” he said, genuine admiration shining in his voice.

Wiping the sweat from my brow with the back of my arm, I replied, “Technique beats strength when strength doesn’t see what’s coming.”

Applause erupted around us. Elise, our senior human combat instructor, approached with a rare smile lighting up her weathered face.
