Alpha's Regret After the Divorce by Christina novel Chapter 146

Chapter 146

“I need him alive,” I stated evenly, adjusting my stance to a defensive posture. “As for you two, you’re expendable.”

The blond guard moved to my right while his partner shifted left, effectively trying to trap me in a pincer maneuver. I pressed my back against the cold wall, knife poised in hand, eyes flicking between their movements with sharp focus.

The dark-haired attacker struck first, his motion so swift it was almost inhuman, but I had trained to read exactly this kind of assault. Sliding beneath his outstretched arm, I slashed my silver blade across his forearm. His howl of pain echoed through the room—the sizzling contact of silver against werewolf flesh unmistakable.

“You’ll pay for that,” he growled, amber eyes blazing with fury.

Using the bed as a shield, I kept the furniture between us as I circled cautiously. “Werewolves always think they’re invincible,” I taunted, hurling a decorative box from the nightstand toward the blond guard sneaking up on my blind side.

The blond was more cautious now, clearly shaken by his partner’s injury. “She’s trained,” he warned quietly, “and armed with silver.”

Meanwhile, Ethan was inching his chair toward the door, desperate to make a break for it. I couldn’t allow him to slip away—not with what he knew, not after everything he’d done.

The dark-haired guard charged again, this time partially transforming—his face elongating into a wolfish muzzle. I sprang onto the bed, using the elevation to deliver a solid kick to his chest. But the blow barely fazed him. His clawed hand latched onto my ankle, yanking me down with brutal force.

Twisting mid-fall, I slashed at his arm once more, but this time he was ready. The blond guard took advantage of the moment, lunging from behind to grab my wrist and squeeze hard until my silver knife clattered to the floor.

“Got her,” he growled triumphantly.

Pain shot through my wrist as he tightened his grip. I was strong for a human, but the strength of a werewolf was something else entirely. I struggled against his grasp, knowing I had only seconds before the situation turned hopeless.

“Need support,” I gasped into my earpiece, forcing my voice to stay steady despite the pain. “Two-on-one, disadvantageous position. Ethan attempting escape.”

Suddenly, the window behind us shattered inward, glass raining down like deadly confetti. A massive gray wolf—Andy—burst through the opening, crashing into the blond guard with enough force to send them both sprawling across the floor.

The dark-haired guard whirled toward this new threat, momentarily forgetting about me. A fatal mistake. I lunged for my fallen knife, rolling to my feet just as the door exploded open again.
