Chapter 204
Kira’s POV
“We need to check on the organization, Andy said quietly beside me, his eyes reflecting my own worry.
“But… I glanced back at my father’s still form, my heart aching.
“We need to talk, Andy continued in a low voice, gesturing toward the corner of the room.
I nodded reluctantly and followed him, with Rocco joining us. We huddled in the shadows, far enough from the medical staff to speak privately but close enough that I could still keep an eye on my father. The security team had doubled – I could see their silhouettes patrolling outside the windows and hear their footsteps in the hallway.
“Headquarters going silent isn’t good,” Andy said, his face grim in the blue glow of the medical monitors. “I need to get back there immediately.”

“I understand,” I said, glancing back at my father. “You should take the team and check it out.”
Andy’s jaw tightened. “And leave you here? After what just happened?”
“I’m staying with my father.” The words came out more forcefully than I intended, but I couldn’t back down. Not now. “I won’t leave him.”
“I’ll increase security,” Rocco interjected. “No one will get near this room again.”
Andy scoffed. “Like your security worked so well this time? Ethan walked right in without triggering a single alarm.”
I saw Rocco’s shoulders tense, but his voice remained calm. “Which is exactly why I need to find out how that happened.”
My ankle throbbed as I shifted my weight, a painful reminder of everything we’d been through in the past days. I was exhausted, physically and emotionally drained, but leaving my father’s side wasn’t an option.
“Andy,” I placed my hand on his arm, “I need you to check on the organization. If Ethan compromised headquarters, a lot more people could be in danger.”
His eyes met mine, concern evident in them. “This place might not be safe either. Ethan’s already proven he can get in.”
“I know,” I admitted, “but I can’t leave him. Not like this. Not again.”
Rocco stepped closer. “I give you my word, I’ll post guards at every entrance. No one gets in without thorough verification.
Andy stared at him with undisguised skepticism. “Your word doesn’t carry much weight with me, Blackwood.”
The tension between them was palpable. I could almost feel the hostility radiating off Andy, while Rocco maintained that infuriatingly calm exterior that had always been his shield.
“I’m not leaving my father,” I repeated firmly. “Especially now.”
Andy finally nodded, though reluctance was written all over his face. He turned and went to gather Rebecca and the other team members,

“If it is,” he said, his expression hardening, “then things are a lot more complicated than we thought.”
We shared a brief hug, and I felt the weight of our shared concern in his embrace. As he pulled away, he cast one final look at Rocco.
“If anything happens to her…” he left the threat unfinished.
Rocco met his gaze steadily. “I’ll protect her with my life.”
I watched Andy and the team leave, feeling a strange hollowness settle in my chest. The room suddenly seemed larger and emptier, despite the medical staff still working around my father’s bed. I was now essentially alone with Rocco and his people, placing my trust in someone who had betrayed me in the most profound way possible.
I’m truly on my own now.
After the team departed, Rocco summoned Marcus and the head of security to the hallway outside my father’s room. I followed, unwilling to be left out of any discussion about our safety.
“How did he get in?” Rocco demanded, his voice low but intense. “Every system should have detected an intruder.”
The security head, a tall werewolf with graying temples, looked genuinely perplexed as he showed us footage from the surveillance cameras. “That’s just it, sir. There’s nothing. No entry alerts, no motion detection, no heat signatures. It’s as if he materialized inside the house.”
