Alpha's Regret After the Divorce by Christina novel Chapter 246

Chapter 246

Kira’s POV

My stomach churned with disgust as I watched Lyra speak through my sister’s lips, her twisted declaration hanging in the air between us. “We’ll have thousands of blank slates ready for… upgrading.” Each word made bile rise in my throat.

Don’t panic. I forced my thoughts to cool, scanning the lab for weaknesses. My eyes locked onto a large digital display above the central console–a countdown timer ticking away: 15:00, 14:59, 14:58… Time was evaporating fast.

I felt Rocco tense beside me. His anger and revulsion were almost tangible, radiating off him in waves. Through our weakened but still- present bond, I could sense his pain at seeing his sister transformed into this twisted being.

Jennifer and the other team members stood with vacant eyes and unnatural postures. The sight of Jennifer’s once vibrant face now completely blank sent urgency flooding through me.

We had no time. I glanced at Rocco and our eyes met. Without words, he gave an almost imperceptible nod, understanding my intent. We needed to stall for time and find a way to the controls.

“This is your great plan?” I called out, my voice echoing through the lab. “Controlling all werewolves‘ minds?”

Ethan’s lips curled into a smug smile. “Not just control, Ms. Silverstone. Transformation. Imagine a world without faction conflicts, without family power struggles. A perfect werewolf society guided by a single mind.”

“My new order will end centuries of werewolf infighting,” he continued, clearly enjoying his speech. “Everyone will know their place, working toward a common goal. It’s evolution, Ms. Silverstone. It’s the future of our species.”

“No,” Lyra interrupted, her voice laced with irritation, “this is our plan. Without my research, he couldn’t do any of this.”

I noticed a flash of annoyance in Ethan’s eyes. Interesting. There was tension between these two. I could use that.

“So who’s really in charge?” I asked, looking between them. “Who’s the true brain behind this ‘new order‘?”

Rocco let out a cold laugh. “My sister never was good at sharing credit or power. Are you sure your partnership will last, Ethan?”

Ethan and Lyra exchanged a brief but hostile glance. A crack in their alliance. Good.

While their attention was divided, I quietly pressed my earpiece. “Andy, can you hear me?” I whispered.

“Loud and clear, Andy’s voice came through. “I’ve hacked into the security system and I’m looking for a way to shut down the dispersal mechanism. These codes are more complex than I expected.”

“Kira, Vanessa’s voice cut in, “my team has rescued several trapped members from the east side. We’re trying to locate the main power supply.”

I scanned the room, noticing a control panel by the side door connected to the main system. “I see an auxiliary console by the side entrance. That might be a weak point.”

I glanced at Rocco, my eyes signaling toward the console. He nodded almost imperceptibly.

“Why are you doing this?” I turned back to Lyra, raising my voice to recapture their attention. “Why take over my sister’s body?”

Lyra made a twisted smile with Kim’s face that looked grotesque on my familiar features. “I needed a strong vessel,” she said. “And… it brings me closer to Rocco,”

“You’re not the Lyra I knew,” Rocco said with disgust. My sister wouldn’t do something like this.”

Lyra’s expression suddenly shifted from smug to furious. “You never really knew me!” she snapped. I always lived in your shadow! Always perfect Rocco, beloved Rocco, while I was just… secondary.”

As her emotions flared, I noticed something–Kim’s body briefly convulsed, as if two consciousnesses were fighting for control. Kim was still in there, somewhere, still fighting.

The countdown showed 8 minutes.

“I need someone to reach the main console to stop the countdown,” Andy urged in my ear. “The system requires administrator–level

access.”

Just then, the lab lights suddenly went out, plunging the entire space into darkness for several seconds. Vanessa’s interference had begun. When the lights returned, I used the brief chaos to move quickly, taking down the nearest guard with a side kick and advancing toward the console.

Simultaneously, Rocco charged in the opposite direction, drawing the attention of most of the guards.

“Stop them!” Ethan commanded, pointing at Jennifer and the other controlled team members. “Don’t let them near the console!”

Just then, Jennifer approached me again, but this time, her eyes had changed. No longer vacant, but filled with struggle and awareness.
