Chapter 253
After what felt like an eternity of cramped crawling, we reached a larger junction with a view into what appeared to be a central laboratory. What I saw through the grate made my blood run cold.
The laboratory was massive, with a central platform surrounded by ten circular stations. Each station contained what looked like a medical chair with restraints and neural interface equipment. Workers in lab coats moved between stations, checking readings and adjusting equipment.
“Andy,” I whispered into my comm. “What’s your status?”
“Inside the west wing,” he replied quietly. “Heavy security, but we’re advancing. Found some kind of server room. Rebecca’s accessing it remotely now.”
“We’ve located what looks like a ritual chamber,” I reported. “Multiple stations set up in a circle. This has to be where Ethan plans to conduct the consciousness transfers.”
Rebecca’s voice cut in. “The data confirms it. Each station is designed to connect to a specific Alpha’s neural patterns. He’s planning to override multiple Pack leaders simultaneously.”
I scanned the room more carefully, my stomach dropping when I noticed a countdown timer on the main display: 45:00 minutes and ticking down.
“We need to move faster,” I said urgently. “There’s a countdown active.”
We continued through the ventilation system until we reached another grate overlooking a heavily secured section. The sight below made
me gasp.
A row of transparent cells lined the wall, each containing a single occupant. I recognized several of them–influential Pack Alphas and Elders from across the country. All appeared to be in a semi–conscious state, connected to medical equipment with vacant, unfocused
eyes.
“Oh my god,” I whispered. “He’s already captured them.”
Rocco’s face hardened as he surveyed the imprisoned leaders. “If Ethan controls them all…”
“He controls the entire werewolf society,” I finished grimly. I quickly took photos with a small camera and transmitted them to Rebecca. “Can you identify them?”
After a moment, Rebecca confirmed: “They match the target list from the encrypted files. He’s assembled all his primary targets.
Suddenly, an alarm blared through the facility, making us freeze.
“Alpha team, report!” I demanded into my comm.
Andy’s voice came through, punctuated by the sound of gunfire. “We’ve been compromised! Security was waiting for us–it’s a trap!”

Finally, we reached an observation platform overlooking the main control room. Below, I could see the complete ritual setup–the circular platform, the connected stations, and at the center, a sophisticated control console glowing with eerie blue light. The countdown timer now showed 10:03 and decreasing.
And there, standing at the central console, was Ethan.
“Prepare for final sequence,” he announced, his voice carrying throughout the chamber. “The new era begins in ten minutes.”
I signaled my team members to hold position while I moved closer to the edge of the platform, drawing my tranquilizer gun and taking
careful aim at Ethan.
Just as I was about to fire, Ethan looked up directly at my position, a smile spreading across his face.
“I know you’re there, Kira,” he called out, his voice echoing in the large chamber. “Why don’t you join us? After all, you’re just in time to witness history being made.”
My heart froze as his eyes locked with mine, and I realized we’d walked right into his trap.
