Alpha's Regret After the Divorce by Christina novel Chapter 57

Chapter 57

The black SUV came to a halt in front of Rocco’s sprawling mansion just as night draped its shadows over the werewolf territory. My desperate bid for freedom had ended in utter failure, and now I was being dragged back like an unruly pet caught escaping its cage. Two wolves flanked me silently, their expressions unreadable as they led me through the imposing front doors and up the grand staircase with its polished banisters.

One of them muttered under his breath, “The Alpha ordered to lock her in the master suite. Make sure she doesn’t leave.”

I didn’t waste energy resisting or arguing. My muscles ached from the exhausting river escape attempt and the subsequent capture, and my clothes clung damply to my skin, making me shiver uncontrollably. When we reached the bedroom, the heavy door shut behind me with a firm click, sealing me inside.

I peeled off my wet garments and stepped into the steaming hot shower, letting the water cascade over me, washing away the grime and the weight of hopelessness. At least Lucas had gotten away. That small thought was the only flicker of comfort I could cling to.

After dressing in dry clothes I found in the closet—still faintly carrying the scent of my previous life here—I curled up in a chair by the window. Outside, the moon hung low and luminous in the night sky, casting a silvery glow over the landscape. Time slipped by in silence, and I must have drifted into a restless sleep because I was suddenly jolted awake when the bedroom door swung open.

Rocco stood there, his face unreadable, a mask of calm that barely concealed the storm beneath. I straightened up immediately, bracing for whatever punishment or confrontation he had in store.

Without a word, he closed the distance in three long strides. Before I could react, his lips were pressed hard against mine. The kiss was far from tender or affectionate; it was possessive, demanding, as if staking a claim. My body stiffened under the pressure, and then his teeth grazed my lower lip, the slight bite a silent warning that sent a shiver down my spine.

“You still want to run away with your little boyfriend, don’t you?” His voice was deceptively soft as he pulled back, eyes dark with something dangerous.

“No,” I blurted out too quickly, panic rising in my chest. “Lucas is just a friend.”

“A friend.” Rocco’s lips curled into a cold smile, but it didn’t reach his eyes. “The way he looks at you says otherwise.”

I shook my head, trying to put some space between us, but found myself backed against the wall, trapped. “There’s nothing between us. He’s only worried about me because of my condition.”

“Is that why he fucked you?” His voice dropped to a low growl, eyes blazing with fury. Suddenly, his hand shot out and grabbed my breast through my shirt, rough and possessive.
