Alpha's Regret After the Divorce by Christina novel Chapter 58

Chapter 58

“Wait!” I called out, lunging forward and grabbing hold of his wrist. “Don’t leave me.”

Rocco turned around slowly, a cold, almost cruel smile curling on his lips. “So now you want me to stay? Or are you just begging for that doctor’s life?” His voice was sharp, laced with mockery.

Before I could respond, the shrill ring of a phone cut through the tense silence. Rocco stepped back, a flicker of irritation crossing his face as he glanced at the caller ID.

“Kim,” he muttered under his breath, then answered the call without taking his eyes off me. “Yes? I’m in the middle of something… No, it can’t wait… Fine. I’ll be there in twenty minutes.” He ended the call with a frustrated sigh. “I have to go out. You stay here and wait for me.”

I forced my expression to remain neutral, careful not to reveal the surge of relief washing over me. Thank God. The tension in my shoulders was so intense it felt like they might snap.

“Sure,” I said quietly, my voice steadier than I felt inside.

As the door closed behind him, I waited until his footsteps faded away before releasing a shaky breath I hadn’t realized I’d been holding. My legs gave way, and I sank down into the bathtub, warm water still cascading over me. Only when I heard the front door shut firmly, confirming he was gone, did I reach for the soap.

I scrubbed every part of my skin he had touched, desperate to wash away the lingering sensation of his hands, his lips. The soap couldn’t erase the memories etched deep in my mind, but the repetitive motion gave me something to focus on besides the rising panic that throbbed beneath my skin.

What was I supposed to do now? Even if I escaped his torment today, what about tomorrow? Or the day after? I couldn’t keep living trapped in his twisted web of control and revenge.

I stepped out of the shower and wrapped myself in a towel. Staring at my reflection in the mirror, I barely recognized the pale, gaunt face staring back at me. My eyes looked hollow, drained of hope.

I had to find courage—if not for myself, then for my father, for Lucas, who had risked everything to help me.

I quickly dressed in the clean clothes laid out for me, no doubt arranged by Rocco. Just as I was gathering my thoughts, my phone vibrated inside my jacket pocket—the one I had managed to hide during my capture. My heart leapt into my throat. Could it be Lucas?

With trembling fingers, I pulled out the phone and saw Ethan Morris’s name flashing on the screen.
