Alpha's Regret After the Divorce by Christina novel Chapter 80

The sharp, sterile scent of the medical center greeted me the moment I stepped through the sliding glass doors. I needed this—needed to see my father after the chaos of last night with Rocco. My body still felt wound tight, as if bracing itself for another blow, while my mind relentlessly replayed Rocco’s threatening words, echoing in my head like a dark storm.

I gave a small nod to the werewolf nurse stationed behind the reception desk. She immediately recognized me—the daughter who never missed a visit, even while battling her own pain and exhaustion.

“He’s ready for you, Ms. Silverstone,” she said quietly, her voice gentle. “The doctor adjusted your father’s medication earlier this morning.”

“Thank you,” I murmured, my voice hollow and distant even to my own ears.

The elevator ride up to the third floor seemed to stretch on forever. When I finally reached my father’s room, I hesitated at the doorway, taking in the familiar, heart-wrenching sight that never grew easier to face. Dad lay motionless on the special bed infused with moonlight energy, his once-strong frame now fragile and diminished. Machines surrounded him, quietly monitoring his vital signs, their soft beeping the only sound filling the otherwise silent room.

Slowly, I moved to sit beside him, reaching out to take his dry, cool hand in mine. A tear slipped free before I could stop it, falling onto his weathered skin.

“Hey, Dad,” I whispered, my voice cracking with emotion. “I really need you right now.”

I gently stroked his hand, noticing how much his muscles had wasted away after months of immobility. The wolfsbane poisoning had ravaged his body, leaving him suspended between life and death.

“Everything’s falling apart,” I admitted, fresh tears streaming down my cheeks. “Rocco… he’s not the man I thought he was. There’s so much anger and hatred inside him. And Mom…” I swallowed hard, the bitter truth choking me. “She chose Kim. She always did.”

Using my free hand, I wiped my eyes, trying to steady myself. “I wish you could tell me what happened with Lyra. I need to understand why Rocco despises our family so deeply.”

The steady beeping of the heart monitor was the only reply I received.

“Daddy…” I whispered softly, using the childhood name I hadn’t spoken in years. “Please wake up. I don’t know how much longer I can keep doing this on my own.”

A gentle knock at the door startled me. I turned to see Andy Watson standing there, his tall, lean figure filling the doorway, a small bouquet of wildflowers clutched in his hand.
