“I know,” I nod. “Just drop it please, i don’t want to revisit that. I came here for the sky, let’s focus on that, it’s beautiful-the sky.” I explain.

“Really?” He frowns, his gaze momentarily shifting. “Looks like the same sky every night I see every night, Luna Aeliana.”

I shrug, “But I never see it this way.” I stand, trying to see if they appear closer when I’m standing. Since I was a kid, I wanted to steal one star for myself, the one star that always winked at me, and I was convinced it was the same one because Chef Tanya had told me my Mom, biological mom, Freya was a star.

“Have you tried looking at them from the roof?” Kingston asks from below, only now do I realise I’m jumping to test my theory.

I pause, looking down at him. “The roof?”

“Yeah, do you want me to show you?”

My gaze shifts between him, and the roof. “You, me, up there?” It certainly seems closer to the sky, but being up there with him? I’m not sure. “With no witnesses? Oh Goddess, I don’t know…” I trail off, arms crossing over my chest. “I’m scared.”

He smirks, “I promise I won’t push you off the roof.”

“Oh no,” I shake my head. “I was worried about me pushing you off it, but now I’m more than scared. You’re thinking of pushing me off the roof?”

“Pretty sure killing ones Luna is triple the treason if that’s a thing.” He says, rising to his feet. “I’d be killing you, Lúmi and an irreplaceable part of me.”

Not himself, not in the way that I would love for those words to have meant. I suck it up and shrug. “Still not convinced.”

“I promise I won’t push you off the roof, Luna Aeliana. Let’s seal it,” he says.

Like muscle memory, I immediately put my pinky finger out, watching him. He hooks his own around it and guides our hands higher, but instead of kissing my finger, he leans and kisses me. “There, sealed with a kiss. Come on, let’s see if they look closer.”

“H-how…” I trail off, unable to speak. I’m dazed, but I find myself quickly. “You were supposed to kiss the finger, when did the rules change?”

“Around the same time you stopped being Aeliana Hartley.”

I swallow, ignoring the tingling sensation that spreads through my skin. “I still am.

Marvin told me she was flying in today, and I couldn’t wait, I wanted to bring her to the packhouse to see Aeliana, so I dragged Rowan to the airport with me early this morning. A little too early because we have been waiting for over an hour, and Rowan is getting impatient.

“Are you sure she’s on the flight that just landed?” He asks, see, impatient.

“Marvin said so,” I simply reply. “Surely, he will be here today.”

“Today?” He groans, “You’re turning me into an errand boy, Kingston.”

That’s because Danielle always flies private, and values the concept of time, this girl however I don’t know much about. “Noah Fren, she’s originally from Vion Pack, a half-breed manifesting more on the human side. Marvin says she’s a little genius just like Aeliana, and well, you were there last time we met. She’s close to her, and I figured she could use a familiar face.”

Rowan side-eyes me, nodding but he doesn’t seem to understand. “So you secretly arranged to have her move here?”

“I wouldn’t say arranged, RU was looking to get rid of her, so consider me taking advantage of the situation. Oh look, there she is now.” I tell him, nodding at the terminal doors.

I take a second look at her and even with the designer shades on, I can tell who she is. “That one?” Rowan gasps, pointing to the girl rolling a massive Louis Vuitton suitcase like she doesn’t want to.
