Kingston and I spent all night together on the roof, I ended up falling asleep on his shoulder and didn’t think to wake me up once.

When I did wake up, I went to my room and he to his, I’ve since been inside, trying to get some sleep but it doesn’t seem to be happening, my sleep schedule seems to be fucked.

I’m only now starting to fall asleep when someone starts banging on my door. I told Lexie not to bother me when she came by an hour ago, no one should be looking for me. I ignore the knocking, hoping whoever it is will go away, but the knocks become urgent.

“Coming!” I scream, kicking off the bed. I feel so lightheaded, grumpier now. I unlock the door and yank it open. ” What?” I snap, staring at Kingston on the other side. “Can you stop banging on my fucking door?”

He frowns, “Are you okay?”

“Yes,” I gritt through my teeth. I’m about as okay as a sleep-deprived person can get after being woken up. “Why are you hurting my door?”

“Can you come downstairs with me for a moment?”

I pause, watching him. “Am I allowed to say no?”

“Yes, but I think you’ll want to say yes.”

“Why?” I frown, he seems awfully confident in my ability not to decline. I want to say no, I want to lie in the silence he interrupted.

“I have a surprise for you.”

I gasp, eyes widening. “For me?”

“Don’t act surprised, you haven’t seen anything yet.”

“I am not surprised,” I shrug. “I’m shocked. You haven’t surprised me with anything before.”

He nods, fetching something from his pocket. A red silk necktie. “I know, I’ll work on that.”

“Okay?” I frown.

“Turn around,” he says. “Let me put this on.”

I take a step back, eyes shifting between him, and the tie. “Look, if you’re trying to get kinky, at least buy me dinner first, this-”

“I’m not putting this on to fuck you,” he says. Oh, well this just took an embarrassing turn now. “But that can be arranged,” he smiles. “I’ll find you a nicer blindfold. I’m doing it because women like this done to them, isn’t it how it should be?”

I frown, even more confused now. “Again, what’s happening?”

“I can’t tell you, but I can show you.”

“Fine,” I say with an eyeroll. “But I will not be putting that on me.”

“Fine, whatever.” I sigh, “Let’s get it over with.” I step forward.

His lips stretch into a wide grin, amused, and with a fairly alarming glint in his eyes when I turn around.

He steps behind me, gathering my hair in his hand and swiping it to one side of my neck. His breath brushes against my neck as he ties it, gently. The knot feels loose enough that I could pull it off if I wanted to.

“Ready?” he asks.

“No,” I mutter under my breath. “But I’m coming anyway.’

“You are,” he confirms, putting my hand in his. “Follow me, slowly..”

I nod, walking closely behind him. He guides me with ease, and I stay within reach, a little hesitant by the staircase, but he convinces me just fine. He guides me down each step. Carefully, and with strict instructions.” Good job.” He praises, the moment we reach the staircase.

A hint of jasmine floods my nostrils, mixed with cedarwood and something sweeter, something feminine. “Take it off,” he tells me.

His choice of words scrambles my brain for a second, but I find myself again, reaching for the tie with a heightened curiosity.

When I pull it off, I pause, rubbing my eyes with the back of my hand. I know I’m sleep deprived but not enough for hallucinations. Did I have one too many whiskey-laced chocolates today? Because what I’m looking at can’t be, I’m seeing Noah. She’s standing next to the sofa, her blond hair blowing like it’s catching wind, dressed in all Chanel, with sunglasses to match which are pushed up into her hair. Looks just like her, but she wouldn’t be caught dead in Mooncrest.
