Chapter 111
I turn towards Kingston to ask what the surprise is but the figment of my imagination moves, “Surprise!” She screams, moving her hands in a wave motion.
“Noah?” I gasp, finally realising I’m not conjuring lonely crapulous illustrations.
I immediately break into heavy tears as we run into each other’s arms, hugging tightly. “My Noah.” I sob. I didn’t realise how much I had missed her, or what seeing a familiar friendly face is like. It all finally hits me at once.
“I missed you, baby,” she says, squeezing me tighter, moving us from side to side.
“It’s really you, honey.” I slightly pull away, watching her closely. “What are you doing here?”
“Well, my flight landed just a few hours ago,” she sniffs, wiping her own tears. “And your husband ambushed me at the airport with his hot sidekick.”
I sniff, wiping my tears away. “You’re here.’
“I am so mad at you,” she pouts. “You forgot me.”
“I know,” I hug her even tighter. Noah didn’t deserve to be cut off, she did nothing wrong, but I just couldn’t handle connecting with someone from a life stolen from me. A second time.
“Good going, Kingston.” I hear Rowan groan. “She’s crying,” he says, rising from his seat. I watch as he meets Kingston by the staircase. “Come on,” he pats his shoulder. “I feel this is a private moment for them.”
“We’re plenty far,” he simply remarks, arms crossed over his chest.
“You married him?” Noah gasps, “Girl, I thought you put him in the doghouse, what the hell happened there?”
“Long story,” I shake my head, guiding her to the chair. We sit right next to each other, and as if no time has passed, Noah snuggles closer.
“Well, we have time.” She tells me, “You can tell me later, I’m going to be here a while.”
I nod. “Right, and what brings you here?”
Her lips curve into a smile. “Destiny?” She says, her smile widening. “I was missing you so the goddess came up with a way to bring me back to my favourite girl.
“Youre my favourite girl,” I playfully pinch her cheek. “Now what really brings you here? New man? New girl?”
She shrugs, “Neither. I happen to have received a job offer here, and you know this was my untouched territory so I said yes.”
“Offer?” I frown. Noah receives multiple offers and a job offer isn’t one of them, unless it’s a modelling contract.
“Yeah,” she nods. “At Vale University, not tutoring, professorship.” She says, flipping her hair over her shoulder.
“Noah, that’s amazing!”
“It’s labor,” she frowns. “You know I hate working, but my oh my, the money it brings in makes me so happy plus I get to be closer to you.” She tells me, “I’ve been dying all alone in Clinshore, no vacation was helping, and no, my other girls don’t count but it’s all grand now.” She nods, “When you don’t answer my calls, emails, or texts, I can hunt you down, isn’t this exciting?”
“Very,” I laugh. She is not joking about hunting me down, Noah will find me when one call goes unanswered or

“And guess what?” She smiles, tapping my thigh. “Daddy didn’t pay off anyone, I know because he cried when I told him.”
I smile, she doesn’t need her daddy to get a job. Her credentials speak volumes for her, but keeping them? She might need help. “I’m not surprised, you’re a great teacher, my Noah. The students of RU are going to miss you.”
