Alpha’s Rue: His Shunned Luna (Athena Enchanted) novel Chapter 137

Chapter 137

The drive to Noah’s apartment is nothing short of chaotic. They turn my car into a club, singing and dancing in their seats. Aeliana gets quiet when we finally drop Noah off at her doorstep, and she doesn’t say much to me the rest of the drive.

When we arrive at the packhouse, I open the door for her, but she doesn’t step out. Her eyes lift to mine, “King, how did you find me?” She asks.

“Damien called me.”

She huffs, “I see he is back to being such a snitch. Very little brother of him, he shouldn’t have.” She sulks, “I was going to stay all night.”

“You’d have slept inside the club?” I frown.

“Nope,

,” She says, violently shaking her head. “I wouldn’t have gone to sleep, I would have been wide awake.”

“I see,” I nod, offering her my hand. She takes it, grunting as she exists. “Walk with me,” I tell her, slamming my car door.

“I miss my Noah,” she sighs. “She is so sweet, so genuine. I don’t deserve her, nobody loves me like Noah.” She says. “And I’m lying to her, and it makes me feel so crapy inside, because she is so nice. I don’t like lying to her, but I don’t have a choice.” She mumbles, slowly shaking her head. “I miss my Noah.”

“You’ll see her soon,” I tell her. Likely tomorrow, they’re together nearly every day now. I’m surprised she doesn’t tag along to Noah’s classes.

Aeliana staggers backwards when we enter the house, her back slamming against me. “Shit, sorry.” She tries to steady herself. “Why is the room spinning a tincy…”

I swoop her into my arms, and she yelps, arms instinctively wrapping around my neck. I look down to check on her, and she smiles, “You love carrying me, don’t you?” She squints, “You can carry me, but drop me.”

Drop her?

A laugh tickles the back of my throat, she feels weightless in my arms. “Siren, I bench four times your body weight and extra, I think I can manage to get you safely to bed.”

“You shouldn’t do this, Kingston.” Her smile falls, curling against my chest as I take her up the stairs.

“Do what?”

“Carry me,” she chokes out. “It’s romantic, especially like this. It’s so cute.” She slurs, “But you can’t carry me like this.”

“Why not?”

“Because you’re not cute for me, but you can be cute. Awfully cute.”

I hum in acknowledgement, “Do you want me to get cute for you? How can I do that?”

“No!” She blurts out, unmoving in my arms. “I want you to be happy for me, I’m sorry.”

“I am happy,” I tell her. For the longest time in my life, happiness has been fleeting, but I find more joy in hers

than I do in anything that previously amused me. And lately, she hasn’t seemed happy enough. Her forced smiles only claw at my chest. “But you know what? I would be happier if my wife didn’t lie to me about her whereabouts.”

“Oops,” she giggles. “I just wanted to have fun with D, my Noah, and Theresa.” She says, “Theresa is Damien’s new lawyer. She’s so great, we love her.”

“I see,” I nod. I didn’t know Damien knew the use of a lawyer, but I guess I was wrong. “But next time, communicate with me beforehand rather than having Lexie lie to me. I’d hate for something to happen to you while I was sound asleep believing you were safe in your room.”

Her head lifts, “I can handle unsafe.” She confidently declares. “I’m Aeliana no middle name Hartley! I survive and thrive!”

This time, I actually laugh. “I’m going to set you down now,” I tell her, carefully putting her on her feet again.

“Wait,” she gasps, noticing we’ve moved to her bathroom now. “I don’t want to pee.”

“You’re here for a bath. If not, you’re going to feel so tired tomorrow morning.”

“I don’t want to feel tired,” she pouts.

“So then let’s give you a bath,” I softly say. “Take your shoes off and put your hands up.”

She does as told, she steps out of her shoes and puts her hands up. “Good girl,” I praise, pulling her dress over her head. The moment the dress is off, she remains naked. I frown at her, I love the whole no panties around me thing, but knowing she was out there surrounded by predators in a tiny dress that barely covered her ass nearly sends me over the edge.

“What?” She frowns.
