Alpha’s Rue: His Shunned Luna (Athena Enchanted) novel Chapter 156

Chapter 156

“Kingston,” she almost whispers, her hands trembling. She looks like a ghost, pale, and gone. “King..”

I pull her into my arms, needing to feel her close, to know I didn’t spiral so far that I’m hallucinating her presence. “Aeliana,” I swallow, caressing her head. “God, you’re bleeding baby.” I pull away, checking her once again. She’s bleeding from the side of her head, and her ear too. It’s not a lot, but it’s more than I’ll ever need to see. “What happened?”

“I’m so sorry,” she shakes her head, her eyes unfocused and bizarre. I’ve never seen them this wide before, the color of her eyes seems to have lightened too.”

“Siren-”

“I didn’t mean to crash your car,” she says, her voice trembling. “I just wanted to drive it, I wanted to get some air, I just wanted to-”

“Aeliana, I don’t give a shit about the car. You’re hurt. You’re bleeding.”

She reaches for the side of her head with trembling fingers. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have taken it, I should have..”

“It’s okay,” I tell her, cupping her face in my hands. “You’re okay, and that’s all that matters. You hear me?”

She nods, wincing when she does. “Yes.” She says, her breath catching again, and again.

“Good girl,” I force a smile. “Now, breathe with me.”

“I’m sorry,” she hiccups, trying to steady her breathing but it doesn’t work. I use my pheromones to calm her, but it barely works. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I ruined your car, I crashed.. ‘

“It’s okay, baby,” I tell her, holding her again, careful not to hurt her. “It’s okay, you’re safe.” I kiss her forehead. “The car is just metal, it doesn’t matter, you matter, Siren.”

“I hit my head.” She says. “I hit the wheel.”

“I know, baby, I know. I’ve got you now.”

“Luna Aeliana!” Someone gasps, I look over my shoulder to find River, Damien, and Maddox staring at us.

I’m relieved to see Maddox, Aeliana was probably screaming because the paramedics tried to touch her, but she’ll be fine with Maddox, I trust he can help her better than anyone.

“Oh my God,” River frowns, clutching her chest. “What happened here?”

“I don’t know, I just-I don’t know.”

Maddox grabs a light from the paramedic on her left. “Aeliana, do you know who I am?”

She nods, “Maddox?” She says, a little unsure. “I know everything, I…you’re Maddox.”

“How do you feel?”

She reaches for her head, “My head hurts, and I-” she pauses, wincing. “My head hurts, and I…

“Okay,” Maddox says. “Let’s examine you now. Kingston, move over.”

I nod, trying to move but Aeliana screams the moment my hands leave her, grabbing onto my shirt. “No! Please don’t leave me.”

I turn to Maddox, “I don’t know how you’ll do it, but find a way, you’ll examine her in my arms.

“What’s that ringing? I’m scared, King.”

“I’ve got you,” I remind her. “You’re okay, Siren.”

“Yeah, she is definitely concussed. Let’s get her to a real hospital and check for possible skull fractures, she seems to have hit her head.” He says, grabbing her trembling hand. “Her pulse is so low.”

“Siren, breathe.”

“They hit the car,” she says. “I hit my head.” She says, her voice fading with the word that comes out of her mouth. “I’m sorry, I crashed the car. I hit my-”
