Alpha’s Rue: His Shunned Luna (Athena Enchanted) novel Chapter 159

Chapter 159

He blinks, not shocked, just confused. Like I should understand what he said with ease, but this man right here hasn’t liked me for years. He cut me out of his life and held grudges I didn’t cement, but now he is sitting here, devastated by my accident, and telling me that he loves me?

It’s all sounding a little unreal, and maybe the pain meds have kicked in and are now making me hallucinate somehow. But no, he repeats himself. “I love you,” he says. “I love you so much that I start to feel sick every time you don’t talk to me. Nothing hurts me more than your silence because your voice is my favourite sound in this sin -ridden world. I have loved you since I first set eyes on your snotty face at the bounce house. I have known I loved you like I’ll never love another since before I could understand anything about love. I’ve loved you when we were friends, when we were something more…when you left.” He pauses, a small smile gracing his lips. “I have never not loved you, Aeliana Hartley. Losing you is my biggest fear, and I don’t know the kind of man losing you twice would turn me into, but I know the world would hate to see it.” He says.

Again.

I’m speechless.

I want to tell him how I felt-how I still feel, but the words don’t make it past the lump in my throat. “Never do that to me again.”

I swallow, nodding. “I won’t.”

“Good.” He says with a smile.

I mirror his smile, trying to take in everything he just said to me, and that too with so much ease. He loves me? Goddess. I can’t get past that, his words still have my heart racing and my stomach feeling funny, but in a good

way.

There’s a knock on my door, it breaks the ice, breaks the awkwardness of me wondering if Kingston means everything he said and if I should say it back. “Come in,” he says, his eyes still on mine.

The door swings open and Noah enters, looking every bit a mess she would never be caught dead in. “My Ellie,” she gasps, running to me. “Oh my god! You’re okay.”

“My honey,” I open my arms.

Noah falls into my arms, snuggling against me. I hear Kingston growl and her sigh with relief. “You scared me,” she scolds, holding me tighter. I ache a little but it’s worth it, it’s out of love. “Don’t you ever do that again, I thought I’d never see you again and I-”

“I’m here my Noah,” I brush her hair. “I’m sorry.”

“You left me there, we were supposed to be together.”

“I’m glad I went for a test drive first,” I tell her. “We would have both been hurt.”

“You’re so annoying,” she huffs, looking up at me. “Do you know how devastated I was? My body sobered on its own. Don’t ask how, I don’t know, I just know that I missed you, I was scared, and the rest just became so unbearable. You can’t die on me, my Ellie. I haven’t killed for you yet.”

I nervously laugh, staring at Kingston who is staring back at me with confusion. Long story, let’s not touch that now. “I’m sorry I worried you.”

“Silly girl,” she snickers. “Even sick you apologise. Did you forget my rule?”
