Chapter 194
“She doesn’t-Siren, look…I’m just trying to help you. Those things could mess you up.”
“I don’t need fucking help!” I snap. “You think I’m doing heroine? Cocaine? I’m barely doing nicotine, I haven’t had a cigarette since you left! I just happened to have taken one from Noah, and I didn’t want to waste it.”
Something flashes in his eyes.
Regret? Concern? Realisation? Pity? “Calm down.” He says, trying to reach for me now that he realises he messed
“Don’t touch me,” I warn, yanking my hand from his grip.
“Okay,” he freezes. “I’m not touching you, okay?” He asks, raising his hands in defeat. “Let’s talk about this calmly.” He offers, still talking to me like I’m high on something.
“I would never put any of that trash in my body, you think I’m an addict?” I gulp, my voice almost a whisper. I wait for him to say no, or so much as just shake his head, but no. He stares, he stares at me like I’m someone else. “God, what is wrong with you? What is wrong with me for you to assume that?”
“I believe you, calm down.” He says, watching me still. “Please stop yelling…”
The fake reassurance hits home, he still thinks I’m on drugs.
It snaps my last last thread of sanity hearing him talk like he’s trying to handle me while I act out on drugs. I reach for the gold-plated mooncrest-branded clip holding my hair together and take it down. “What are you doing?” He asks, seemingly confused. “Aeliana,” his voice rises with panic, “Baby, what are you doing with that?”
“You think I’m an addict?” I ask, drawing the sharp end of the pack hair clip against my skin.
“No, give that to me.” Kingston orders, trying to reach for it but he retracts the moment I press it harder against my skin. “Aeliana-”
I don’t waste any time, I slide it down against my skin. If proof is what it takes? I’ll give it to him. “No,” he hisses, snatching the clip from me a moment too late. Blood drips from my arm and onto the floor. “Fuck, what have you done?!” He gasps, his breath suddenly laboured.
“An addict?” I whisper to myself, shaking my arm down on the stool I previously occupied, while Kingston stares at me with utter horror. I know there’s a better way to do this, a less psychologically woeful way, but my brain is spiralling.
“What is going on here?” Someone asks.
“There, get a fucking test done!” I tell him, shaking my arm down a few times more. Once satisfied with the sample I’ve left him, I look up at him again. “Get Maddox, or whoever the hell you please to run a test on that, then discuss the results with your mistress.”
“Kingston, what the fuck did you do?” Rowan gasps, his eyes shifting between us.
“I didn’t-”
“He called me a repeat drug addict, and you know what?” I laugh, “Maybe I should start taking drugs, maybe popping a few pills here and there will make me forget what a fool I married!”
“I’m sorry,” he says, shaking his head. “Fuck, let’s get that cleaned up, you’re bleeding a lot.” He says, almost gasping for air.

I take a step back, and I almost feel bad for putting that dreadful guilty look on his face, but he called me guilty based on an assumption. “Don’t come near me, don’t follow me,” I warn, backing away. “Take that to get a few tests, and discuss with your mistress as you did behind my back, then stamp another label on me!” I snap, grabbing my phone off the table with my bleeding arm and walking away.
“No, leave her alone.” I hear Rowan say. “I’ll get Danielle to help her.”
Help?
That word is triggering. I pause at the door, “I don’t need help!”
