Alpha’s Rue: His Shunned Luna (Athena Enchanted) novel Chapter 207

Chapter 207

The road appears endless, and I worry they’ll fight anytime soon. “Sera keeps going on and on about how perfect the timing is, the two youngest sisters married within a week. Isn’t that lovely?”

“No,” she says, her voice quieter. “But shoving my foot up your ass would be.” She mumbles to herself, not low enough before I catch every word.

She catches me off guard, and I laugh, covering it up with a fake cough.

“What?” Audrey asks.

“She said yes,” I say, clearing my throat. For the first time since we got into the car, I see Aeliana smile. It’s brief, but she smiles, and Audrey shuts up after that, sinking us into a deep silence again. Peaceful silence.

I keep a hand on Aeliana’s wrist this time, checking for her heart rate which only spikes once. We arrive at Hartley house in no time. Audrey leaves us both in the car, running into the Hartley residence once she recognises Seraphine’s car outside.

Gamma Hartley greets us at the door, he focuses more on me than on his daughter. Inside, Audrey and Seraphine are hugging, squealing in each other’s arms while Aeliana watches. This is exactly as it used to be, but unlike then, Seraphine pulls away from Audrey and hugs Aeliana.

“Little sister,” she grins, squeezing her tightly. Aeliana doesn’t hug her back, she taps her back a few times before pulling away. “Wow, look at you.’

“She’s so grown up now,” Pandora says, smiling at my mate. “Look at that glow on her.”

“I’ll say,” Seraphine nods. “You look good, Ellie.”

“Thank you.” Aeliana retorts, her tone dry, uninterested.

“Alpha Kingston,” Gamma Hartley says, “Can I offer you a drink? Dinner will he served shortly.”

“I’m driving,” I decline. A glass wouldn’t hurt, but I want to keep an eye on Aeliana, I brought her here, she wanted to stay home.

“Congratulations on being Luna now,” Seraphine offers, her tone sincere. “You’ve gained weight too, sis. What’s your secret?”

“My husband feeds me very well,” she smiles. “And as for the glow, it comes from marrying a good man.’

That little comment makes me smile.

“Speaking of men,” Pandora chimes in. “Honey, where is that husband of yours?”

“He forgot the gifts he bought for you, and everyone,” she says. “He’ll be back. He didn’t want to show up empty- handed.”

“Alpha Kingston, how’s that treaty with Halocave pack coming?”

“Uh..” I turn my attention away from Aeliana. “Alpha Joel would like to sign it in person so I will be heading over there in a few days. Thank you.” I tell him, that the deal was negotiated by the old Gammas or more than anyone by him. Gamma Hartley is known to go out of his way to accomplish whatever he can for the pack pack.

He asks for more details, giving me pointers on how to charm Alpha Joel and how to get more out of our deal if needed.

Before I know it, I get roped into pack politics, and once I start, there’s no stopping me. Gamma Hartley makes good conversation, and we’re laughing at the ideas of one of my new Gammas when someone interrupts us.

Brandon.

Seraphine’s husband.
