I knock on Rowan’s door, and he opens almost immediately, dressed in nothing but a towel, his hair still damp from the shower. It distracts me for a split second, but then I go back to remembering why I’m here. “Rowan.”
His face immediately lights up, “Hey, Hero, what’s up?”
“I...I just took a—”
“Have you eaten yet?” He asks, stepping aside so I can come in. I feel very weird about this room. I haven't been in it since that time we had sex in it.
“No,” I swallow, squeezing the test in my hand.
“You should,” he frowns. “I bought you pasta. Lexie should bring it any second now.”
“I know,” I swallow. “It umm...it made me gag.”
“Oh, I’ll go back and get you something else, let me just—”
I shake my head, struggling with this more than I should be. “I umm, you see...I think the reason I gagged is that I may be…” I look down at the test, then slap it in his hand. “I’m pregnant.” I blurt out.
His eyes widen, staring down at it, then back up at me. “I took two more of those, and I’ve never seen such clear lines before, it—they’re all positive, and I threw up twice.”
“Are you okay?” He frowns, staring intently this time.
“No,” I swallow, the wave of nausea returning once again. “I don’t throw up, so I knew that was wrong. I..I don’t know how this happened, but...why are you just staring at me?”
“I’m listening to you.”
“You’re smiling,” I point out. His shock lasted about three seconds, then morphed into concern, and now he is smiling, not exactly smiling, but he seems to be fighting back a smile with each word that slips out of my mouth.
Now he fully smiles, gently stroking my cheek. “I love looking at you.”
I slap his hand away, suddenly irritated by how stupidly romantic he can be. “Well, you should have stuck to looking because now I’m fucking pregnant!” I whisper yell.
He nods, still staring at me with serenity. We should both be panicking, him more than me, but he can’t seem to grasp the severity of the situation we’re in. “Rowan,” I scold, but he doesn’t move, he simply stares at the test in his hand. “Why are you not freaking out?” I frown, but he just keeps looking at the test. I reckon it’s the first time he has looked at it since I handed it to him. “You knew, didn’t you?” I gasp. “My Aeliana said that you could scent it or something.”
I wait for him to say he is in shock and trying to piece everything together in a calmer way than I am, but then, he nods. “Are you fucking kidding me? How long have you known about—”
