“Where’s our Baby?” Ares asks.
“Baby?” My heart skips a beat. “Oh, oh…” The realisation hits me. He means Aeliana. They’ve always called her baby, since I call her my baby.
“Hi, I’m Calix Fren.” Calix steps forward, always the social one. I watch as Rowan shakes his hand. “That’s Ares, Aspen.”
“How are you doing?” Aspen says.
“Nice to meet you,” Ares says, stepping forward to give him a handshake. “Wait a second…” he trails off, still holding his hand. “Come here, Princess.”
“Hmm?” I freeze, moving closer to Calix. When I don't go to him, he takes a step closer to me and actually pulls me towards him.
“What is it?” Aspen asks.
“Calix, smell this dude,” Ares says, sniffing me.
“No,” I snap. “What is wrong with you? You just met the guy, it’s wrong to start sniffing around him.”
“Wrong?” Ares snarls, pointing at Rowan. “This is the idiot who got you pregnant, isn't it?”
I pause, staring at him with wide eyes. I didn’t tell anyone I was pregnant, so how the hell does Ares know about it?
“Pregnant?” Calix pauses, staring between us. “You’re pregnant, Noah?”
“No, I…” I gasp, watching Rowan stumble backwards with a punch from my brother. “Calix!”
“You’ve got some nerve playing with my sister like that.” Calix hisses, grabbing Rowan by the collar. Danielle steps aside, watching in horror as my brother punches her mate again. “How dare you make her cry? Do you know who the hell she is?” He grunts, delivering repeated blows.
“Calix, stop,” I beg him, my heart racing now. Rowan is silent, watching me. Probably confused by the goons I have for brothers.
“No, don’t interfere.” Danielle pulls me back.
“Please stop,” I cry out, my chest tightening with every punch and kick at him. “Calix, please…you’re making me sad.”
“And it's your fault!” Aspen groans, punching Rowan in the face again. Blood splutters out of his mouth, and my stomach drops.
“Noah, don’t.” Danielle shakes my head, pulling me back again when I try to approach the hounds I unleashed on Rowan.
“They’re going to kill him,” I sob, the sight making my head spin. He keeps looking at me, doing absolutely nothing while he gets beaten to a bloody pulp. “He isn’t fighting back.”
“He doesn’t want to.”
“If you don’t stop, I’m going to tell Daddy,” I try to tell them. “If you don't stop, I’ll never come home again.”
