“I’m not driving,” I tell her. “He is,” I point to Rowan, handing him the keys through the window. He immediately hands them to Danielle, lingering outside.
“Hey,” Rowan smiles.
“Hi?” She frowns.
“Hey, Luna Aeliana.”
“Riley.” Aeliana immediately corrects her. “I’m nothing like her. I’m not her.”
“Please call her Riley,” I say.
“Thank you,” she groans. “I don’t want to hear that name again. I hate it.”
“It’s my favourite name.”
“Of course it is,” she says with an eyeroll. “You’re so basic, driver Kingston.”
“Driver Kingston,” Rowan laughs. “I like that has a nice ring to it. Better than Alpha Kingston.”
“Alpha?” Aeliana pauses, “You’re an Alpha?”
“Why do you look surprised?”
She shrugs, “as I said. You’re basic, this is a nepotism situation, isn’t it?” She squints. “Or did you use your looks to get that?”
“You think I’m attractive?”
She gags in response, her gaze shifting out the window again. Just like before, she keeps her face into the wind. I keep watching her, the subtle differences between her and my Aeliana more evident now. She can barely stand me, but I will change that.
We’re halfway home when she starts making little growling noises. I don’t dare ask, not until she speaks. “Can we stop for food?”
“Yes,” we all say in unison.
“So you’re all hungry but waited for me to speak up?” She gasps.
“What are you in the mood for, siren?”
Her face falls, “I’m in the mood for zero obnoxious unprofessional pet names, and maybe a cheeseburger, with pickles and fries on the side.”
“You like that?”
“Why else would I be requesting it?” She huffs, “Look, I’m very hungry, okay? You need to wise up.”
I raise my hands in defeat. I forgot how snappy Riley is, and just as quick, too.
“She reminds me of someone,” Danielle says, “But like more...what’s the word?”
“Bratty,” I snicker.
Aeliana gasps, “Excuse me?”
“That’s right,” Danielle nods. “The pup's head trainer.”
“That's who inspired the whole Riley thing,” Rowan tells her.
“Hello? Stop talking about me.” She whines. “I’m hungry, my stomach is going to burst open from hunger. I can feel it splitting open.”
“Can I feel?” I ask, my hand already creeping down her belly. I hope to feel the pup, but she slaps my hand away before I can feel anything.
“Keep.your.hands.to.yourself.” she warns, wiping her fingers off on the seat after touching me.
Goddess, heal my mate.
