SERAPHINE
Yesterday, Dad went to try to visit Aeliana at the institution, but he wasn’t allowed in. They told him that even if he had been allowed in, he wouldn’t have seen Aeliana because she had already been taken home. She’s been home for three good days, but not once have I heard about her being home, even though I’ve spoken to Audrey at least twice over the last few days.
This morning, Dad decided he wanted to visit Aeliana and see for himself if she was okay because something definitely did happen for Alpha Kingston to discharge her from the facility. I tagged along so I could see Audrey and find out about the situation from her, as well as hear what her next move is, because there will be a next move. We only spoke briefly earlier this morning.
Aeliana and Kingston are coming down the stairs when we arrive. She is screaming at him about something, but when she sees Dad, she squeals, running down the stairs while still squealing with excitement. “Siren,” Kingston calls after. “Fucks sake.” He groans.
“Daddy!” Aeliana pouts, wrapping her arms around him.
I pause, unsure if my eyes deceive me. I haven’t seen her this thrilled to see Dad since she was eight, maybe?
Dad pats her on the back, “Hey, how are you?” He asks with an awkward smile, even he is shocked by her behaviour.
Their relationship seems to have gotten better after he went to therapy with her, but something about this whole thing feels very performative on her end. She’s not just plain excited, she’s excited in a way that seems unreal.
“So much better now that you’re here.” She says, pulling away from the hug, and swinging herself from side to side. “Why didn’t you visit me?”
“I was tied up somewhere.”
“Oh,” she nods. “Did you bring me anything?”
“Umm… I forgot.” His head slightly tilts as he assesses her. “Did you need something?”
“A present, duh.”
“I’ll bring you one next time.”
“Two.” She giggles, showing him two fingers.
Dad nods, and her smile widens. “Alpha Kingston, a word?”
“Of course,” he heavily sighs. He looks so exhausted, his hair is dishevelled, and he is wearing sweatpants, while Aeliana is the complete opposite. She looks ready for the runway. Heels and long straight hair with highlights. “We can talk in my office.” He says, his eyes finding Aeliana again. “Aelian—Riley, go and wait for Evelyn in your room.”
Aeliana’s smile falls. “You’re still on that? How cute.” She laughs.
“Lexie!” He calls, watching Aeliana walk towards the door with an evident unease. “Stop.” He tells her. The maid comes running, just as Aeliana stops walking with a frustrated whine on her lips. “Keep Luna company until Evelyn gets here. Gamma Hartley, this way.”
“Sera!” Audrey squeals, coming out of the kitchen too. Between her and Aeliana, I don't know who seems happier. She hasn't been this eager to see me in a long time.
“Hi, babe,” I smile. “What a cute dress.”
