“I’m bored,” she groans. “Take me with you.”
“I don’t think Kingston will appreciate me taking you out,” Audrey tells her, her voice calm and soft…too soft. “Your nurse—I mean your assistant is coming today, is she not? She will keep you company.”
Aeliana snarls, “I don’t want to spend time with that girl, she’s always yapping and making me do weird actress exercises.”
“Umm, okay,” Audrey tells her. “Ask Kingston if you can come. We’ll be waiting.”
Aeliana instantly disappears from the door, and I turn ro Audrey, smacking her in the arm. “Audrey,” I whisper-yell. “What are you doing?”
“She wants to hang out with me, let's bring her.” She shrugs. “We can talk later.” She waves me off, her lips twitching with a smile that almost makes my skin crawl. “Let’s take her shopping, she’ll like that.”
“She’s not in her right mind,” I tell her.
“Who cares?” She snickers. “She’s keen on hanging out. What should I do? Say no.”
“Yes.” I nod. It’s unfair to play games with her while she doesn’t even know who she is. The games have gone from fun, character-building to plain sickening now. All for what? A love that will never be reciprocated?
“No,” she instantly argues. “This could actually work in my favour.” She says, smiling still.
“How so?” I frown.
“She hates him,” Audrey says, her words making her giggle as soon as she’s said them. “She hates him,” She repeats, laughing louder this time, the sound filled with absolute joy, but I know that can’t be right. She’s starting to be just as delusional as Aeliana always is.
“What? No, that’s impossible. Aeliana loves Kingston.”
Audrey nods, “But Riley doesn’t.” She tells me, a smile lingering on his lips. “She can't stand him.”
“Where are you going with this?”
She shrugs, so happy that she almost twirls herself. “Umm, maybe it’s time for Riley to fall for someone new.”
“Audrey,” I groan, my voice defeated.
“Even if she comes back to her senses, she won’t be able to forget those feelings. What do you think?”
“You’re crazy, that’s what I think,” I gasp. “You said she can’t be happy, and she isn’t, she practically doesn’t even exist, babe. You need to quit this.” I tell her. No love is worth this much. I did things for a love I thought I wanted, a love that turned out not so great and ruined what I wanted.
