I shrug. I don’t know what happened to him, all Kingston said about him was that he would never hurt me again. He was so sure I’d never run into him again.

“Why does it always happen to me?” I choke out. “What is it about me that always makes them want to do that to me? Why am I always the victim, my Noah?”

“I don’t know,” she wipes my tears away. “But it’ll never happen again.” She confidently says, just like she did when I told her about the coward who had drugged me when I was younger. “You overcame, baby. You did what you did for me for yourself this
