Chapter 454
“Does he know?” I quietly ask
“No.”
“Are you telling him?”
“He’ll figure it out again, but I’m not there yet.” She sighs. “This is daddy’s baby boy, he plans on raising him, and I can’t complain, he raises some tough sons.”
“You already know it’s a boy?”
“No, but daddy keeps saying it has to be, it should.” She says, trying to imitate her dad. “So yeah, it’s baby boy until he’s here, or turns out to be a she.” She tells me, going quiet for a moment. “What do you think you’re having?”
“A boy,” I confidently tell her, ignoring the way I heard Kingston whisper princess against my belly one time when I was half asleep. “I hope it’s a boy, and he better look like me but take after Kingston, I’ll dammed if he takes after his crazy mom.”
“I’ll report you to Kingston if you keep saying that, not like that anyway.” She warns, holding me tighter. “You’re sane, my Ellie. It’s everyone else around us who needs an exorcism….” she trails off, laughing at her own joke.
Something vibrates somewhere on the bed, and she pulls away, grabbing her off from under her. “Oh, daddy is calling.” She smiles, “Hi, Daddy…. Yes, I’m sorry I didn’t wait for you, but we need space from each other,” she tells him, pausing to listen to him. Whatever he says makes her smile drop like she has been scolded. “I know, and I’m just seeing my Ellie for a few days…. Daddy, your grandchild is safe, yes, I feed and hydrate him.” She huffs. “Let’s talk later… no, you cannot say hi to my Ellie, you only cared for your grandkid.” She smiles again, “Fine, you can talk, and my diamond better be pink this time.” She says, putting her phone on speaker for me.
“Hi, uncle,” I greet.
“My dear, how are you?”
“I’m fine, Uncle, how are you?”
“I’m good,” he says with a deep sigh. “That friend of yours is trying to send me to an early grave. Please tell her to stop.”
“Noah, stop.” I echo, making both of them laugh. He says she listens to me, but I just happen to convince her sometimes because Noah listens to her heart and intuition. She’ll even listen to the stars before she listens to anyone.
“You two should come and see me,” her dad tells us. “I am breaking my foot tomorrow, and two hugs will heal me ”

“I was hoping it wasn’t.” I groan. “Pickled green beans sound good right now, but Evelyn isn’t here, and she’s the only one who knows how to make that crap.”
“Evelyn?”
“Nurse,” I tell her. “From the psychiatric institution. She is great, talks a lot, but she’s good. You’ll like her.”
Noah groans. “Doubt it, pregnancy made me greedy, and I already don’t like sharing my best friend.” She tells me. “And I think my baby would agree. But poor kid, can’t even have his God mommy’s attention to himself because he has to share with his best friend. And they will be besties for the sake of our legacy.”
“I get to be Godmother?”
“By default,” she smiles.
