“No, she’ll be back here in two months. She only took leave from VU, so she’s coming back, and she’ll have the baby here, I think…” I trail off. Noah and didn’t talk about that, only that she’d be back after two months for work. “I hope she does come back because I want to be there.”

“You’ll be there, even if it’s not here.”

“I thought she was only here to visit, but she likes Mooncrest a lot, and she wasn’t giving it up because of what happened with Rowan and Danielle,” I tell him. “She’s grown attached to everything here, her house, her job, the pack itself.”

“I had them find a temporary replacement for you.” He grumbles.

“Who?”

“At VU,” he yawns. “I know you hadn’t signed the official papers, but I wanted you to decide for yourself.”

“Um, that’s not something that I want right now.” I don’t like what I imagine when I think of the day I’ll be back at VU. The last few weeks have been a little overstimulating, and there’s no way in hell I can face my students again. Or even a fresh set, I don’t think they want to learn from a crazy woman and as the crazy woman, I don’t want them questioning my intellect at something that I’m good at. “But I’d love to go back someday. Wouldn’t want anyone thinking I’m crazy.”

“Nobody would think that,” he says, stroking my cheek with his thumb.

“Im fresh out of a mental institution.”

“They don’t know that,” he frowns. “As far as they know, you took leave because you were ill, and if anyone says some shit like that, let me know.”

“What will you do?”

He shrugs, his lips twitching a smile. “What needs to be done.”

I yawn, the drowsiness starting to creep in, but I’m not in a rush to go to bed at all. “Sleepy?”

“Yeah,” I nod, yawning again. “But Noah is talking to Rowan outside, so I don’t have to get to bed in a

rush.”

“Do you want to be cuddled?”

“Do you?” I counter, an eyebrow raised at him.

I expect to see some shock or an inflation of his ego at my question, but instead he nods. “Definitely.”

“Oh, well.” I shift, lying down now. “Come here then, I’ll hold you until you fall asleep.”

Kingston stares at me. “Shouldn’t it be the other way around?”

“There are no rules around cuddling,” I laugh. “So unless it hurts your ego-”
