I’ve loved every single moment that Noah has been with us, and I knew I would cry when it was time for her to leave. After the disturbing incident with Audrey, and her parents repeatedly bugging me to forgive her, Noah stayed. The day Gamma Cole and his wife came to the house after Kingston had left, Noah got put in time–out because she slapped Mrs Cole across the face for asking me to forgive her daughter.

Rowan had to drag her to her room, and Danielle stayed on watch duty while Luna Estelle and Rowan tried to get rid of them. I couldn’t believe the audacity. Even after everything their daughter had done to me, Gamma Cole was still acting as if I owed them forgiveness, and Mrs Cole simply turned a blind eye, and a deaf ear to the reasons why Audrey is locked up.

The same goes for Pandora, she kept clinging to the fact that Seraphine had not done anything to me, but she did. Every time Audrey was dragging me by the hair, tripping me in the halls, or bugging me in my own home, she was right there. Seraphine and Audrey are best friends, whatever plans Audrey had for me, Sera knew, and she stayed quiet. The fact that she didn’t physically harm me doesn’t change anything, she’d laugh sometimes, and there were times she would threaten me too.

Pandora was trying to get my father involved, but he didn’t say anything, he just stood by and said we were both his daughters, and he wasn’t going to choose Seraphine over me because Pandora had chosen the moment she asked me to forgive Seraphine. That filled me with warmth, but it did nothing for

my irritation.

They had been arguing with Rowan for a while, he assured them he was acting on behalf of Kingston and they couldn’t believe King had locked their daughter up because he has a soft spot for her, or so

they thought.

I was so close to passing out. The room was getting so small until I saw Kingston. My attention shifted from the suffocating pressure I was under to the crutches that were holding him up. Gamma Cole and his wife left, and so did my parents. Dad tried to stay, but Kingston thought it was best they all leave.

I spent the rest of that evening with Noah in her bed, knowing she’d be leaving today because if she didn’t, her father would have flown here for her, and it would have been a whole mess with Rowan. “Are you sure you don’t want to come with me?” she pouts.

“I’d love to, my honey, but I have to stay with my honey boy.”

Noah grins widely, “You love him.” she says, and unlike all the other times she’s said it before, she isn’t asking. She’s telling me, and she sounds so certain of it. Still, I don’t miss the way her tone drops a pitch lower.

I look over my shoulder to make sure Rowan has gone far enough before I speak. Kingston went out for some work, and he didn’t want me driving alone so Rowan drove us to the airport. “And you?”

She shrugs. “What even is love?”

“The thing that has you nervous around him still despite everything he put you through.”

“I tried ” She swallows, “But it just wasn’t the right time.”

“You’re showing, and the next time you’ll come here, it’ll be very much visible. You won’t be able to hide. it, and I’m pretty sure he noticed..” I tell her, my eyes falling to the oversized t–shirt she paired with shorts today. Maybe I can tell because I know, but I swear there’s a visible bump under her shirt.

She smooths her hand over her stomach and smiles, looking over my shoulder to where I know Rowan must be gone. “I promise I’ll tell him when I get back. First thing, or maybe I’ll pop up with a fully grown child. Too far?”

“Miss Fren, we’re ready for take–off,” Anastasia says, the nurse her father hired just in case Noah falls ill.

“Take care of yourself,” I pout, hugging her. “And the baby.”

“You too,” she sighs. “Call me every day before you go to bed, and remember not to freak out as you go to your follow–up appointment,” she says, pulling away. “But if you do happen to start worrying. I’m only one call away. One flight.”

I give her a small nod, and she smiles. “I hate saying goodbye to you.”

“Me too, but we’ll be together soon.” I smile, holding back my tears. “Go, they’re waiting.”

She starts backing away with a pout, waving at me. I feel like a mom dropping her baby off for her first day of school, and sadly, I don’t think I’ll survive that part of my life. I’m getting teary just thinking about dropping my unborn pup off at school.

“Walk properly,” I frown.

“You’re such a mom,” she giggles, turning around so she can walk away.

I look away, the tears falling as soon as I turn around. I wipe them and head straight for the car. Rowan is already settled in the driver’s seat, he doesn’t say anything when I get in. We just sit there in silence, watching until we see the Fren private jet fly away. The “Noah.” That just goes to show how cherished Noah is by her family. She is her dad’s only daughter, and his favourite child.
