Alpha’s Rue: His Shunned Luna (Athena Enchanted) novel Chapter 489

Chapter 489

We don’t talk any further.

He drives me home in an awkward silence and buys me snacks on the way back home.

Kingston isn’t home when we arrive, and neither is Maddox. The two have been very sneaky lately. They’re unusually close, like how they used to be when they first started dating, and for his sake, I hope Kingston has learned not to fuck with me because I’ll end him. This is a recurring thought.

I’ve considered all options, and he has no more chances with me. This is the last one. The slightest mistake will make me take off, but only after I’ve ended him and left the pack without an heir or Alpha.

Evelyn is sitting across the room from me in Kingston’s bedroom, reading up on something. I haven’t been able to spend another night in my room since the day Kingston confirmed there was indeed someone watching me. I feel weird in there now, and I stayed with Noah most nights, but tonight I’m back in his room.

Bored, I pick my phone up and call Calen’s aunt/mother, whatever it is that Luna Bridget is calling herself these days. I’ve called her a couple of times since I came home. The first time she said the boys were out hunting, something I have no clue why they do so often considering the day and age we live in now. It’s like those kids spend their lives out in the wild with Alpha Grayson doing adult things. I once told Kingston I didn’t like it, but the smiles in Calen’s photos simply confirmed for me that he did. The second time I called, he was asleep, but I got to see him. However, the third time, she simply didn’t pick up or return my call.

“Luna Aeliana,” she smiles, her face taking up my screen. She seems to be in the room she showed me last time when he was asleep.

“Hi,” I awkwardly wave, returning her smile. She appears pale, like she only picked up by accident, and I don’t doubt it. She doesn’t seem to like me very much, but it’s not her that I call for. “Sorry for calling so lat-early,” I correct myself. “How are you?”

“Great,” she smiles. “How are you yourself?”

“I’m fine,” I nod. “Can I talk to Calen?”

Luna Bridget’s gaze shifts for a moment, somewhere to her left before she focuses on the screen again. ” Unfortunately he just fell asleep, he was out camping with his big brothers, and they tired him out.”

“Oh,” I nod. “Well, can you-” I pause when I hear noise in the background, and a laugh that sounds uncanny to that of Calen. I don’t know when it was that I memorised so many things about the boy, but I know his laugh, I know his cry too. “Is that not Calen?”

Her eyes go wide and she lets out a nervous laugh, “Let me check.” She says, “They’re in a little tent in the corner of the room.” She tells me, walking around in clear circles before she finally comes to a stop. “Boys, did you wake K?”

“Wake him?” One of the boys snickers.

“Calen dear, there’s a call for you.”

“I’m not allowed to talk to anyone on the phone.” I hear him say.
