Chapter 495
Doctor Bridget asks me a few questions about my diet, and the supplements that I’m taking alongside what she prescribed. Kingston answers those questions, and I tackle the ones about my pregnancy journey. Kingston makes sure he has permission to bring an ultrasound machine into our bedroom and perform a scan every morning to ease my anxiety.
I like Doctor Bridget, but I try not to get attached because my track record with doctors is down the sewer. By the time we leave the hospital, Kingston has a picture of me holding the sonogram as his wallpaper, an image that I took solely for Noah, and he doesn’t stop smiling at it either. On our way to the mall, Icatch him tapping his screen just to look at it.
I’m suddenly hungry and in the mood for yoghurt now, specifically the brand that Noah has gotten me accustomed to. “You can wait here.”
“I’m coming.”
“I can buy yoghurt on my own, King.” I whine, “I don’t need you babysitting me.”
“I’m just going to be watching from afar.” He says. “Don’t look at me like that, baby. I’m just going to get myself a coffee. That’s it.”
“Fine,” I scoff, tossing him the car keys. I make my way inside the mall, taking advantage of how slow he’s walking thanks to his ankle.
He doesn’t follow me into the store, but I don’t feel his watchful gaze on me from outside the store. I make it quick, buying a new pack of spoons so I can eat on my way home.
“All done, honey,” I say, handing him my shopping bag. He takes it, but he doesn’t say anything, and when I start walking, he doesn’t follow me. “Kingston?” I frown, my gaze mirroring his to see what it is that has him so captivated. It’s a clothing store, I’m familiar with the lingerie store next to it, but I’ve never actually been inside because it’s a kids’ store. “Oh, do you want to go?”
His response is instant, desperate almost. “Yes,” he clears his throat. “I mean only if you want to. Do you?”
I shrug, my gaze shifting from the store to him. “We don’t know the sex of the baby yet, we shouldn’t be buying clothes, and do not mention Damien’s dream to me.”
“I won’t,” he smirks. “And it doesn’t hurt to take a look…”
