groans.

I shake my head, “I didn’t say anything.”

“You think I got her pregnant.” He scoffs.

“I hope not, because I wouldn’t be raising that child, or staying with you.”

“Wow,” he gasps, shaking his head. “I’m hurt baby, I haven’t given you any reason to think I’d cheat.”

“I know,” I swallow. “But you caught it before anyone did.”

“I can’t help my senses,” he hisses, his voice heavy with irritation, but he doesn’t raise it once. “The scent wasn’t mine. I just happened to recognise it. Bring me any pregnant woman, and I’ll be able to scent the pups on her.”

“Okay,” I bite out. “I’m sorry I thought that, I’ll make it up to you later with kisses, and I can’t believe I’m saying this, but tell me more.”

“Well, I requested the test because she was throwing up and whining about the food, and also because I could scent the baby’s father.”

“Do you know who?” I almost whisper, I’ve never been this invested in her life before. And God I feel awful for that baby, I will never understand how it is that Danielle can’t get pregnant again, but there are demons like Audrey Cole who are allowed to

procreate.
