Evelyn comes in while I’m eating, grinning from ear to ear. “There’s my favourite patient.”

“Good morning, you seem happy”

“I am,” She nods, pulling a chair opposite me. “It’s your birthday,” she says. “Can I say happy birthday, or do you dislike that?”

“I’m not the holiday grinch,” I frown. “But yes. Don’t say happy birthday to me because you’re annoying.”

“You love me,” she giggles. “You can’t fool me anymore, Luna Aeliana, we’re tight.”

“I’m not sure,” I pause, “But I do know who you love,” I tease, my words immediately flustering her.

Now it’s my turn to laugh. “Is he home?”

“Alpha Kingston?” She frowns, feigning confusion. “No, he said he’d be back later, he had an emergency at the export company.”

“I don’t know if you’re getting dumb, or simply assuming that I am,” I frown. “You know who I’m talking about.”

She shrugs, “He went out with Alpha Kingston.”

“And didn’t even say happy birthday.” I shake my head.

“He wanted to,” she says. “But you were asleep. He had a gift for you too, it’s on the table.”

A gift?

I get up, carrying my tray with me. Evelyn follows with my juice, and when I enter the living room, I’m so stunned that the tray falls out of my hands. I didn’t really pay much attention when I came downstairs, I was too focused on going into the kitchen but no, I see it all. Half the room is full of flowers, wrapped presents, bows, teddy bears, it’s a lot. “Oh my God.”

“Nice, huh?”

“Who did this?” I gasp, watching one of the maids bring more packages inside.

“People,” Evelyn says. “Your people. You are very loved, Luna Aeliana. I’ve never seen this many flowers or gifts in one place. It

looks like a store.”
