I’m not exactly lying, but planning her birthday behind her back has been quite hectic. I had to personally supervise and inspect every little detail to ensure it would be perfect for her. We haven’t celebrated her birthday in so long. I wanted to make up for those years, to make sure her first birthday as Luna is spectacular. My mom handled the invitations. I was very clear on who I didn’t want to attend, and I double-checked the guest list to make sure the elders and Gammas who were against her were left out. My father tried to convince me otherwise. He said it wouldn’t look good, but I don’t give a fuck what looks good to the outside world. I’m keeping Aeliana safe, and respecting her by not bringing in people who once wanted to ruin her.

The highlight of my day is seeing Aeliana come outside the house. My heart somersaults the moment that I see her. She’s wearing a gold dress that looks oddly similar to the one that I purchased for her a few days ago, but it looks just as beautiful on her. My brain shortcircuits at the sight of her. She looks divine, like she’s not real.

Aeliana moves with ease, oblivious to the way she just shook my world right now. “Ellie,” I whisper her name, watching her.

“Sorry I kept you waiting,” she stops in front of me. “But the zipper on the red dress got stuck and then broke so I had to change.”

Islowly shake my head, “No. It’s not the dress, Aeliana. It’s you, you could make rags look stunning, and this pretty dress? Its appeal skyrocketed because it’s on you.” I tell her, pulling her close. “I wouldn’t look twice at it if it were on anyone else. You’re absolutely gorgeous in this dress, Mrs Vale.”

She lets out a soft laugh, swinging herself from side to side. “Come on, we’ll be late. It’s terrible manners to be late, especially for an Alpha, and his Luna, who made him late by changing outfits.” She says.

“I’ll be careful.” I smile, my thumb stroking the fabric of her dress. I don’t even know when my hands got on her, but I don’t want to let go. I’m obsessed with the way she looks, sounds, the half smile she gives me before rolling her eyes when I try for another kiss.
