Chapter 519
do not get cranky,” she frowns, hooking her arm in mine. “This is pretty,” she remarks, looking around the reception as we walk inside.
“Are you sure? Because you can redecorate if you’d like.”
“Nah,” she shakes her head. “Everything is perfect, but can I ask you something? Why Lotus? And not-
“Oh, crap.” I hiss, pretending to feel my phone vibrating. “I need a second to answer this, why don’t you go ahead, they’ll show you to our table,” I say, taking my phone out of my pocket, but I start following her the moment she starts walking.
Aeliana moves with zero suspicion, I watch as she makes her way to the large ballroom, absolutely oblivious as she pushes the doors open. She must be shocked at how dark it is, but the lights flicker on and over a hundred voices collectively scream out. “Surprise!”
Aeliana jumps, and she immediately turns to run, only stopping when she sees me behind her. “God,” she gasps, a hand on her chest as she stares at the room.
I did it.
I pulled a surprise party off, and the look in her eyes when she starts spotting familiar faces is remarkable. I expect her to find her favourite people in the room, but she turns and jumps into my arms and kisses me while everyone laughs, claps and fawns over how cute it is.”You did this.” She whispers against my lips.
“We can do a small birthday next year.” I wink.
She pulls back, “So you were all in it.” She smiles. “Rowan, I left you in the house.” She gasps, looking around the room again. We did in fact leave most people here at home, but the driver I hired knew to drive slow and take the longer route here so everyone would be in place by the time we got here.
“Dad!” She gasps. “Mom!” Her face lights up when she sees my mother. “Everyone’s here.” She pouts.
“Happy birthday baby girl,” Mom says, meeting her halfway and hugging her. I keep my distance, watching from afar, letting her have her moment.
“Thank you,” She smiles, moving to hug her dad first, and then mine, and somehow Pandora too.
“You look stunning, Liana baby.”
“Thank you,” She smiles. “I love your dress too, we’re almost matching,” she says with a half smile.
I had requested Mom invite her coworkers from VU before I even thought about Pandora, but I guess it wouldn’t look good if I didn’t invite her parents. They’re only here because of the relationship between Aeliana and her father. If it were up to me I wouldn’t be looking at him right now, but he is trying. I have to recognise his efforts towards building a relationship with her, though a little too late. Aeliana has yearned for this, and she’s loving every minute of his attention and random visits at the house!
A few people step up to wish her a happy birthday, and the happiness radiating off her is a clear indicator that it is, in fact, a very happy birthday for her. I’ve never felt so proud of any event I’ve planned or hosted until now. This is by far the best, my mate is happy, so happy that I can feel it influencing my own joy through the bond.
“A!” Damien screams from the corner of the room, already nursing a beer. “Can we do cake and send the kids and grand adults home?”
“Yes, Damien.” Aeliana laughs, hugging one of her friends that I’ve seen with Noah. I know she’s thinking of her,

and Damien’s timing is perfect.
Come on, sing happy birthday to A-mean Luna Aeliana.”

Everyone starts singing, and I watch the photo booth in the back. I don’t think Aeliana paid much attention to that end of the room, not until she sees people make way for her second favourite person in the world. Second because I’m first, I have to be.
