Oh God, you’ve got to be fucking kidding me.

As if it wasn’t already enough that my toys died on me. Now I have to explain what the noise in my room was because I couldn’t control my temper before I flung it away.

Both Rowan and Danielle are standing on the other end when I open it. “Hey,” I frown, staring between them.

“Are you okay?” He frowns, staring me up and down for injuries, but it’s my ego that’s bruised right now.

“Miss Noah?” Anastasia joins the crowd. “Everything okay?”

“Yeah,” I nod. “Sorry I woke you guys, it was nothing. Go back to bed.”

Anastasia stares at me for a moment before she walks away, leaving me with just Danielle and Rowan. “What happened?” Danielle asks. “You sort of screamed.”

“I did?” I gulp, I didn’t think I did. I assumed the vase was what brought them all here. Rowan looks sleepy, like he’d been asleep already, and Dani has her hair tied in a braid. “Never mind, it’s all good.”

“Swear?” Rowan raises an eyebrow.

“Swear,” I say with an eyeroll. “I couldn’t fall asleep, so I tried to umm..well my toy died on me and that scream and noise you heard was me throwing it after it died.”

Silence. Awkward silence as they both stare at me and I simply nod repeatedly. I start closing the door when Rowan steps forward. “Let me give you one.” He says, “I mean if you don’t mind, I’d be happy to help.”

Danielle’s gaze flickers between us, and settles on me again. “Or I could try,” she quietly says, her words catching me off guard. Her eyes widen, “Sorry if I made things weird. I just—”
