Chapter 536
“You were so brave, Siren,” Kingston murmurs, his voice trembling. “Thank you.”
“For being brave? I was scared.” I truthfully say.
“For our daughter,” he swallows, his voice cracking. “I love her so much, and I love you. I’m so proud of you, baby. That wasn’t easy.”
I force a smile.
It wasn’t. But the pain only lasted until she came, I was in doubt of myself but my body knew what to do. I was scared of crushing her when they kept telling me they had her head. “She was excited to see you,” I tell him. “You didn’t talk to her this morning like you always do, so she decided to come out and confront you.”
He laughs, his thumb brushing over my hand. “I won’t miss another morning.” He says, his smile lingering. “She’ll have to forgive me for today, her Mom had me running to the store to buy trains.”
Two nurses come in shortly after, and they help clean me up a little before they move me to my hospital room, where the baby and Luna nurse are waiting. Kingston brings me the baby the moment that I settle into the bed, arms open and waiting. She is all clean now, swaddled in a blue blanket that her grandmother must have brought but she doesn’t have one of those cute little hats, it’s sitting on top of some diapers. “She’s so big,” I tell Kingston, smiling down at her. I’ve never felt this instant love before. She’s my girl. My baby. “And she has your
eyes,” I lowly gasp.
“And your beauty,” he kisses my cheek. “Look at her, you made her, Ellie.” He says, his tone full of wonder. “Thank you, baby, she’s perfect.” He repeats.
I nod, gently brushing my finger on her nose. She has his nose too, I think she looks like him, but I’m giving her time to take after me too. “What’s her name?” I pause, looking up at him.
Kingston shakes his head gently, his gaze glued on his daughter, as if she will disappear if he looks away. “You should name her. You did all the hard work bringing her into the world. I just caught her.”
It’s sweet.
But Kingston has been dreaming of her for months. He has a name picked out, he hasn’t told me what yet, but I know he does, and I want her to have that name, the name that her father has dreamed of calling her. “I’ll get the next one.” I smile. “She’s all yours to name, tell me, what is it that you decided on?”

“Are you sure?”
“Positive,” I nod. “Unless you want me to name her after Damien.”
