Chapter 537
We’re only alone for a few minutes before our friends start showing up. Somehow, my dad arrives first, and he brings Pandora with him. He cries when he meets Freya, and he claims she looks just like I did when I was born. Luna Estelle does come back, bearing gifts, and decorations for her granddaughter. Danielle and the baby arrive before Noah and Rowan do. I get to hold both my niece and daughter together.
Damien arrives last, already campaigning for favourite uncle hy bringing Alanna the biggest teddy bear he could find. “I told you so!” That’s the first thing he says. “Where is my niece?”
I point over to River holding her and his gaze softens, meeting her in the corner of the room. Ree, you look absolutely perfect with a baby girl.”
“Not happening,” River says with an eyeroll. “But I sure am tempted. She’s gorgeous.”
“Aww,” Damien kneels beside her, looking at the baby. “She’s so beautiful, A. She looks nothing like Kingston.”
“She has my eyes, idiot.”
“My eyes,” Damien smirks. “She has her Uncle’s eyes, right A?”
“Right,” I laugh, holding onto Kingston’s hand so that he doesn’t move.
“What’s her name?”
“Freya Alanna Vale,” Kingston quickly tells him. He has taken up introductions since I’ve cried four times saying her name.
“Freya Alanna Vale,” he nods. “Welcome to the world, princess. I’m your uncle Damien and I love you very very much.”
“Can I have her back?” Kingston asks, “It’s been five minutes.”

Everyone laughs, he won’t let anyone hold her longer than a minute. I asked that he give them five minutes each at least, because it’s not like they’ll drop her, everyone holding her has prior experience with babies, if anything we might be the danger here. Still, Kingston doesn’t want his daughter out of his sight or arms. “Sure.” River smiles. “Freya Alanna, good luck finding any personal space because your daddy is clingy.”
Kingston gets her before she’s fully done talking. He doesn’t even care for anyone who is teasing him, he has his baby in his arms and nothing else matters. Doctor Bridget says she will discharge us tomorrow morning so by afternoon, all our friends are gone and it’s just us. When we get off the phone with Maddox, that’s when it hits me. We were on our way
somewhere before now.

“Calen,” I remind Kingston. “You should call and let them know we won’t be coming.”
He puts the baby in my arms and fetches my phone. We call Calen’s aunt, and I’m glad that she’d learned that it’s his face I’m looking to see when I call, so she now hands him the phone without delay.
“Hi Luna Aeliana,” he waves, sitting in her lap.
“Hey baby, how are you?”
“When are you going to get here?” He pouts. “I baked you cookies.”
