Alpha’s Rue: His Shunned Luna (Athena Enchanted) novel Chapter 92

Chapter 92

“Kingston, you’re being ridiculous.” He laughs again. “If he were a Romeo, he would have crashed your wedding. She’s yours, she is bathed in your scent right now, he knows. There is no need to challenge him to a duel over a hug.”

I ignore him, he doesn’t know what he is talking about. That wasn’t just a hug, I don’t hug her like that, it’s not appropriate, her tits were practically rubbing up against him. She had her arms around his neck, and she flinched when I pulled her close in front of him.

Inside, she takes his hand. “Let’s get some air.” She tells him, tugging him towards the foyer.

“Stay,” Rowan growls, just as I’m about to follow them. “He came from far, let them talk. She wouldn’t have taken him out there if she wanted us to overhear their conversation.”

I’m not about to stay because he asked me to, but he throws an arm over my shoulder and drags me to the sofa. He sits right next to me, as if guarding me. “You can watch from here, but try not to look creepy for fucks sake.”

“Wha-why are they sitting so close?” I ask, pointing towards them.

Rowan snorts out a laugh. “They aren’t,” he tells me, but I see things differently. One inch forward and their knees will easily touch. They’re sitting opposite each other, and Aeliana is smiling bigger than she did outside the door. “Are you going to growl every time he blinks at her?”

“Probably,” I grumble.

He snorts, shaking his head. “Welcome to mated life, I thought you said you wouldn’t be jealous if she hugged another man.”

He didn’t just hug her, he twirled her. You don’t do that with someone’s wife, mate or mere girlfriend.

I keep watching them, she laughs at something he says, and again, I want to tear out his throat. Not deathly, no, that would be unreasonable. But just enough to take away his ability to speak. He shouldn’t be making her laugh so hard, Rowan insists he is harmless, but even if he’s gay, I don’t want her near him.

Someone joins us, I don’t need to look to know who it is, her perfume gives her away. She sits right on the armrest, her hand brushing over my mine. “Hey,” she says.

I shift, moving from her touch and focusing on my mate with the stranger. I don’t see what could be so funny that she can barely sit still. “Hi.” Rowan retorts, but I don’t, the last thing on my mind is being friendly. Clearly, my wife is being friendly enough for both of us.

“Who’s that with Aeliana?” Audrey asks.

“Proff,” I scoff.

“What?” She gasps, “That’s an unusual name.”

“Very.” I nod.

“Can you stop?” Rowan nudges my arm. “The man has done nothing to you yet.”

Nothing? He’s doing more than enough. Every time that he touches her arm, or she laughs at something he says,

my wolf paces, and my anger multiplies. “He’s making her laugh.”

“If we rely on you to make her laugh, that poor girl will never smile a day in her life.”

I pause, “It’s a laugh, it’s not rocket science.”

“And yet I’ve not seen her half this elated with you.”

“She was pretty elated hours ago,” I bark out, my words rough, and my anger towards that strange man touching my wife is redirected towards him. “I’ll invite you to watch the next time I-” I pause, wincing at him stepping on my toes. “What the hell?”

His eyes move to the right, and I mirror his gaze to find Audrey staring at me, eyes wide and broken. Fuck. She shouldn’t even be here, she was hardly ever home before, but now she finds time to be here almost every hour. I’ve been keeping my relationship with Aeliana separate from our friendship. She still gets sad when she sees us together, but she puts on a brave face and tries to be understanding of me. “What are you doing here Drey?”

“I came to see who the handsome stranger looking for Aeliana was,” she sighs, eyes shifting to the foyer. “I’ve been getting calls since morning, and they were right.”

I frown, “You think he is handsome?”

“Very,” she nods. “But you’re better looking babe, obviously.” She smiles, her gaze once again drifting back to Aeliana and Proff. “Wow, I’ve never seen Aeliana that happy before. They must be really close.” She grumbles, chewing on her fingernails.

“They look normal to me,” Rowan remarks, trying to deflect the situation again.

“That’s normal?” Audrey laughs. “For goodness sake Rowan, open your eyes.” She says, her arm passing over mine to slap his shoulder. “A man that handsome does not travel across the world to visit a friend, friends call each other. He crossed multiple pack territory borders for what?” She scoffs.

She’s right.
