Chapter 112

It was Monday morning, and Patrick had called an emergency

meeting and requested we clear a few hours of our schedule. Thanks

to whatever the emergency was, Blake had to come into work early

and dragged me along with him. I grabbed a coffee and headed for the

conference room. I was the third person, so I took my usual seat and

fiddled on my phone.

The conference room started to fill up as everyone quickly walked in

and took their usual seats. Leah, one of the Accountants, took her

spot on my right, and Sarah, the HR manager, took hers on my left.

“Ladies, how are we doing?” I greeted.

“Yeah, good, thank you. Congrats, by the way. You scored yourself a

hottie,” Leah winked, grinning ear to ear.

“I mean, we all knew something was bubbling, but damn girl, you’re

marrying the good–looking son of a bitch” Sarah laughed.

“Yeah?”

“You want to sit over here?” He asked, pointing to his seat. He had a

chair right next to Blake’s usual seat.

“Umm, why would I want to do that?” I asked, confused.

“So you can sit next to Blake,” he said in a “duh” tone.

“Uh–huh, and why exactly would I wanna do that, Connor?” I raised

one of my eyebrows and tilted my head. This was going to be fun.

“You-… I-… I mean you-…” he looked uncomfortable.

“Yea, Connor, why would she want to do that?” Sarah leaned forward

and put on her HR face.

He twitched uncomfortably and adjusted his tie. I raised my eyebrow

more, and he quickly sat down without another word.

There were a few chuckles around the room from people that

overheard the conversation. It wasn’t like the boy had asked quietly. I had made it very clear to anyone that asked me that even though Blake and I were together, I was not to be treated differently. Things

Patrick walked in with Blake and another guy. He was as tall and

built just like Blake. He had a grey suit on that matched his grey eyes.

I watched Sarah and Leah straighten up and fix their hairs. I couldn’t help but roll my eyes. The guy was handsome, and I could see all the

females in the conference room check him out. However, my eyes

were fixed on my hunk.
