Alpha's White Lie (Rosy and Blake) novel Chapter 5

Chapter 5 – The Drive

I packed my bags and looked over all my things to make sure I didn’t forget anything. It had been a week since Taylor had gone to Greenwoods. Rocky and I were driving down today to be with her for Grace’s funeral tomorrow. I had taken Friday off and Rocky had managed to swap his jobs for other days. Taylor had called every day and wanted updates about Blake. There honestly wasn’t much to talk about. I literally only saw Blake at work.

When I leave the office to come home he would still be engrossed in files and papers. When I would get to work in the morning, he would already be there having meetings and catch-ups. After our lunch meeting in his office on Monday, the most we had said to each other was hi or hello as we passed each other in the corridors. He did stop by my office on Wednesday to ask how Taylor was doing and after I said yeah she’s good funeral is on Friday, his phone rang and he took off.

I had thought that after our conversation about starting over again he would want to catch up for dinner again or something but quickly realised that maybe he only apologised because he felt bad. Not that he actually wanted to be friends, he just felt bad leading my kindness on and then ignoring me.

Since we were going to be working so closely at work, it was in his best interests to be on my good side. To be honest, I had stopped caring. I’ve never let things like this bother me and I never will. I just know how to keep my distance and not fall for his friendly trap again.

A knock on the door pulled me out of my thoughts. Rocky must be there to get me. I zipped up my bags and carried them to the door with me.

I pulled open the door to let him in.

“Rockz does Taylor need anything else?” I asked as a turned around to grab my handbag and keys.

“I’m not sure if she does,” said a familiar voice that didn’t belong to Rocky. I turned around and Blake stood at the doorway. He was still wearing his suit. God, he looked good in it!

“Blake, what are you doing here?” I asked. It was 3 pm and I really didn’t expect him to anywhere but in his office shoving his nose deep in files.

“Well, I was meant to have another catch up with you today but when I asked for you I got told you had gone home early and wouldn’t be back till maybe Monday. Then I remembered you said the funeral was on Friday. So I thought I’d come to say bye and I brought these for Taylor.” He said and picked up a little basket that had some flowers and chocolates. F**k that was sweet of him.

“Aww, that’s sweet of you. She will love that. From what I’ve heard she’s already drowning in chocolate” I said and laughed. Blake laughed and it made my insides vibrator. What was happening to me? Since when was this all happening!

The lift dinged and Rocky walked out. He saw the basket in my hand and a smirk formed.

“Don’t even start getting ideas! These are for your girlfriend” I pointed out to him.

He laughed “First, she’s not my girlfriend and second, that’s sweet she will love it”.

“Hey, man, nice to see you again. Rosy said you’ve been working very hard. Didn’t think I’d see you in a while” they did a little man hug. Damn Rocky! The things I tell you are never to be repeated!

“Ahh yeah man just busy at work. Have a few things that need to be sorted out so grandad makes me work like a monkey. Thanks to all the work, I might be here for a while. So when you guys come back maybe we can have some drinks or something” he said casually.

That reminded me.

“Hey, Blake. Saturday night a guy was banging on your door. He had 3 other people with him and was getting very angry since you didn’t open up” I said to him grabbing my bags for Rocky.

“F**k sakes. I’m gonna say he had blonde hair and looked a little like me?” He asked and rubbed the back of his head. I nodded.

“Yeah if you ever see him again and he asks about me, just say you don’t know my whereabouts and to fuck off” he laughed. “He’s my younger brother. Zero interest in life. Loves to drink and party and sleeps in a different bed almost every night. He must have heard I was here”
