“Angel. Are you okay?” Blake’s voice broke my trance.

“No, I’m not. Come on” I got up and headed towards room 16.

Anger bubbling in me. She had outdone herself this time.

Without hesitation, I opened the room door and stormed into

mums room. She was laying on the bed with a cigarette in her hand,

laughing at whatever was playing on the TV.

“Hey! My baby girl is here and hello to you, too handsome. Didn’t

think I’d be seeing you again” she winked at Blake and blew him a

kiss.

Mums face was covered in scratches. She had a swollen lip with a

big gash on the bottom one. There was a big cut across her left

eyebrows too. Her right hand was bandaged up and so was her left

forearm. She looked terrible.

“Oh please, just call me Beth, handsome. Now I know a hunk like

you hasn’t stuck around because my daughter is pretty, she’s not, so

what’s got you hanging around her like a bad smell? Is she good in

bed?” Her eyes scanned Blake from head to toe before narrowing her

eyes at me.

“How dare you talk about me like that?! Me, the child that’s been

looking after you even though you keep reminding me how worthless

I am! I’ve been working my ass off to make sure you don’t have to

keep selling your ass but instead of appreciating all the things I do

for you, here you are creating more trouble for me. Ruining one

child’s life wasn’t enough that you’re trying to bring another one into

your ruthless world?!” I was loud and I didn’t care. I had had enough

of her bullshit.

“Do you have any shame in you?! Any at all?! You have a 28–year-

old daughter and instead of looking forward to grandchildren, you’re

having your baby! BABY! What the fuck is wrong with you?!” Anger

filled in my voice. I was so mad I could see red.

“That is not how you talk to your mother, young lady. Don’t you

raise your voice at me?” She rolled her eyes and looked back at Blake,

“See, this is why I don’t understand how you can be with her?

She’s so rude and arrogant”

“With all due respect Beth, you’re the problem here, not your

daughter. She cares about you and wants the best for you. You are the

one being rude” Blake snapped at her.

Mum snorted “well look at you standing up for her. Rosalie, what

magic have you done on this boy?”

“Oh shut up! Please just stop your nonsense. You will never

understand the relationship Blake and I have simply because you

don’t even know what a loving relationship is! Speaking of

relationships, who’s the father of this baby? Do you even know? Or is

it another one of your fuck and walk away buddies you can not

identify?”

“My relationship and this baby is none of your business, girl. Why

are you even here? I didn’t call you.”

“Seriously? Who else do you have to call anyway? Who else will

come to sort your mess out?” I yelled at her. Why did she hate me so

Blake and I turned to find a man standing at the doorway with two

cups in his hand. He must have been in his early 40’s. He was tall and

tanned. Something about him looked very familiar. It was like I had

seen him before but I couldn’t remember.
